I think you are being too hard on Mike. You will eventually see him for the coach he is when this thing gets turned around. I think he may not always react well, but then who does under such stresses? LB certainly didn't. Don't worry about his quotes, just watch how the team develops over time and judge him on that.
nixluva - you and The Answer Man are brothers in optimism but I feel compelled to inform you... it ain't happening.
Why not?
Here's why:
- our guys don't run any sets with consistency, there is too much chaos on offense. Roles are confused and it shows in the fourth quarter, when it matters most
- Toney Douglas was playing with a bad back? Whose idea was that?
- Gallo should be bringing the ball upcourt in a carefully designed system that takes advantage of his skill set, not just the fact he has nice form on his J
- it is not mandated that the pick and roll play must involve your point guard
- Mozgov should have been hacking and whacking Kevin Love
- after a win or loss, you shake the hands of your players. You don't turn your back on them
- being a good coach/ leader is about setting a firm emotional tone and being forceful when you need, not just throwing tantrums after inevitable mistakes. Willis Reed would stomp his foot on the court when Ray Williams bothced a pass. That was not the way to communicate. Red Holzman saw this and returned for a second tour for a reason. He had to save Willis from bursting an artery on the sidelines.
