He would never consider it. So no point even talking about it.

Great bball mind, but don't think he'd be much of a motivator.

We need a taskmaster.

Clyde would make a good coach. His understanding of the finer aspects of things would put him over the top.

Clyde doesn't want to get into coaching at this point. He is an old guy enjoying his part-time gig as a commentator. He doesn't need the extra headache.

I don't think he'd want a position that would harsh his mellow. Maybe something part time, or as a consultant.

In the meantime, they should play back his commentary every game night and take 99.9% of his advice.

Wouldn't mind him giving advice to this team but his vocabulary level is too high for most of this teams' players

Yup.

Not even Just For Men would help him if he had to coach the Knicks.

Posting and Toasting would lead to a NY Post roasting. Why go through the grinder that is the NY media and the Knicks fan base? Why tarnish a great legacy?

I would hire guys like Clyde, McHale, Walton, etc., during the pre-season for some sit-down skull sessions and technique practices, but our coaching staff might feel insulted.

We still don't have most of our bigs showing a functional post-up game, and guys frequently make mental mistakes. Maybe the best and the brightest could help our players on certain aspects of the game.

Ditto. I'd love for McHale to teach some post moves to Mosgov and AR. Don't know if he would be game for it though.

The question is, how in the hell does herb out last JVG, CHANEY, HIMSELF, LENNY, LARRY, ISAIH, and now MDA...thats 6 coaches guys. Name me one assistant in any sport that has last through six coaches with out at least being reassign, promoted, or just flat out fired.

WTF is he doing, he's gone through 3 GMs 2 president of ops..Is he part of Dolan's family,is he banging one of dolans relatives..When you really sit and think about it, it's really strange and very unusual.

Like clyde, most former players become TV anouncers, or analyst for there former teams, herb has made it through mutiple regimes, and 100's of players...lol

Don't know how he'd do BUT, I do know, just based on his preg-game comment he's a much better scout than any that are currently employed by the Knicks. He is always on top of who are left and right handed; when to drop off a super quick guard who can't shoot (rondo) and when to press a good shooter.

He seemed very aware of the strengths and weaknesses of players and teams.

At one time I wanted him to help our guards with their defense but now I think you either have to have the passion and desire to play defense or you don't.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
