I loved Douglas at the end of last year. Looks like he's picked up right where he left off. Hard not to love what this guy does

Man... iSergio gets called out, and now johnwallace.

I'm getting amazingly good vibes from this team, but my many years of coaching, and the fact that I am a Mets/Jets/Knicks fan makes me hesitant to go after the doubters at this point.

Give me 25 games before I get a little ****y.

I'm glad for Douglas, though. The guy has taken a lot of hits from certain folks, beginning with his rookie year SL. I know I was disappointed with him in this year's SL, when he seemed to be doing more shooting than distributing (something he had supposedly worked on), but it really looks like he has found his comfort zone on this team, and I think he'll be even better by mid-season. We haven't even seen much of his mid-range pull-up game, so far- a part of his game that real impressed me in his FS clips.

He's really turned out to be a steal, and having Felton & TD on the floor together gives us a pretty potent small ball backcourt.

We are a healthy Azubuike and a confident AR from being a guaranteed playoff team which the top echelon teams are not going to want to face in Rnd 1, and if we make it to #5 and face a team like Atlanta in Rnd 1 we may even find ourselves looking at a Rnd 2 series.

I'm wrong 5x as much as the next guy (just ask TMS) but JW was killing Douglas calling him a 6'0 SG, we blew it not taking JRue Holiday, etc etc

This guy has been one of the few bright spots from last year and is just as much a PG as guys like Bobby Jackson, Crawford, Barbosa, etc... guys who really excelled at that role and of all those guys Douglas is EASILY the best defender. Thats what you love, shot falling or not hes getting in guys grills

I'll admit I didn't like him as a point guard last year. Thought he was not a good at running the team.

Still don't think that's his strength but he's doing so many things well this year - defense, scoring, making clutch plays, he's earning every minute he gets at the sg or pg. He's a big part of the teams success so far.

Nothing I like better in sports then watching players and teams I root for turn the corner. He's taken huge steps this year and this team seems to be coming on - it's a lot of fun to watch.

your calling it like you see it, its 100% not his strength, but he does take care of the ball, he's good at the 2 on 2 games (pick and roll, give and go, shooting off screens, etc) and whatever shortcomings he has a pure floor general (IMO) he makes up 10x over with his defense and ability to score all over the place.

Dude was defensive player of the year in CBB, averaged 20ppg and tested among the fastest ever at the predraft combine. There are physical skills backing this up

Douglas is a harassing defender, but he's gotten burned by both Rose and Rondo, 2 guys with no perimeter game.

uh, do you watch other teams in the NBA? every single team in the league is getting burned by Rondo and Rose. at least we won the Rose matchup. and if Toney is responsible for Rose's 24pts... who is responsible for Toney getting 30? Kyle Korver?

fishmike never likes to admit being wrong about anything but he has no problem calling people out at every opportunity... this is the same guy who wanted to sign David Lee to a 6 year extension this summer, wanted to trade for Gerald Wallace last year & draft Joe Alexander among other things... but i don't see people creating a separate thread to point these things out & calling him out for it... go figure.

uh, the point was it could have been avoided if Toney laid off him a bit. Rose is not a good defender. I think Duhon averaged 15-20 on him in his time here, and Douglas was on fire hitting contested shots anyway.

David Lee for $10mm a year (he ended up signing for more) fishmike voted yes
wanting to trade for Gerald Wallace (I still do, dude's awesome!) fishmike voted yes
loved Joe Alexander in that draft (he got hurt and sucked) fishmike voted yes
I also loved Majec Lampe, I also thought Sweetney would be really good player.

Call me out! Thats what dudes (as opposed to little girls) do! Thats whats fun about hanging your ass out there as oohah (I cant ever beat him in an arguement) says! Because when your right you get to bust balls. When your wrong its time to suck it up.

It's weird this year, cuz there's this strange anti Good Knicks vibe flowing under the surface. It's like some of us don't know how to deal with the team actually playing pretty well to start the year. It's only 5 games, so it's nothing substantial yet, but still it's something that should be applauded by all. I get the feeling that there are those among us just waiting, almost hoping for the team to hit a rough spot. I could be wrong, but that's kind of the vibe I get.

Some of us have been pretty supportive from day one and so naturally we may crow a bit and look for those that were adamantly down on players or the team as a whole. It's still early, but I like what we've seen so far. Even tho it's not perfect. The thing that gives us hope is the good things have been on the Defensive side of the ball. That is a very good sign. If we were simply shooting the lights out and winning only cuz of that, then I could understand some doubt, but it's been due to effort and defense. Oh and yeah I'm crowing cuz I said that this team was gonna show the biggest improvement on the defensive end.

+1

the improvement has been with defense and effort. and this was apparent even in the losses to boston and portland. i said it before, shooting is correctable. effort and defense are not. either the team is going to give good effort and play D, or it won't. it's gonna be a fun year to watch, but apparently the forum will continue to be morose.

we ALL have some low Knick self esteem (except you).

I have always thought Walsh could build a team and have been praying hoping sacrificing chickens that he could do it here. Looks pretty good early. Nice balance of size, defense, scoring, etc... especially great job on the cheap guys who pretty much anyone could have had in Mosgov, Douglas, Fields and Walker. Nice solid rotation guys playing well in their role

The most heartening thing about this bunch is that they are FAR from clicking on all cylinders. I love the defensive effort. I love the intensity. I love seeing effort rewarded. And it is difficult to get your feet on the ground perhaps but hey...that's where guys like C2D come in
Win, lose or whatever as long as the effort is there and they play the team game you have to enjoy.
It has been a long time and the fans are hungry. The team appears to be as well. I can't wait till they hit on all cylinders and get there real swag on

These guys collectively can play a LOT better. You can see them getting more confident in each other every game.

Very difficult to stop anyone on the perimeter consistently given the rules which now exist.

Those two will burn anyone at times, anyway.
