I think the salaries match and they're both expiring.

Why not do it? We need good shooting and Stojakovic may be a hasbeen but he can still shoot. He's barely playing anymore on New Orleans (he got a DNP: CD in his last game) and it wouldn't hurt to trade our own garbage for a guy like Peja who can help us in spot minutes. Plus maybe a mentor for Danilo? Who knows..but it's a low risk, high reward trade that I would make.

someone tell me why any GM would trade an expiring contract of a player that can at least suit up for you in exchange for Eddy Curry

The Knicks could use a European sharpshooter because God knows they don't have one now.

new orleans may like this because half of curry's deal has already been paid for this season. so, in real cash it new orleans about $5M.

but... in the real world, they have to trade a useful roleplayer for a side of mayo.

Does it work that way? Wouldn't they have prorate the amount and pay us back instead?

It doesn't work this way. I have confirmed via Larry Coon that the prepaid money would end up counting up to the $3M max you can include in trades. The rest would have to be paid back to the Knicks.

So does this mean that the only way we get any value from Eddie is for him to, (gasp) PLAY[

eddy will probably sit on the end of the bench until the end of the season and fade away once his contract expires. at this point, the knicks should just send him home for the rest of the season and call it a day.

The deal probably happens if the Knicks throw in $3 million. And it ain't my money so whatever. I make the deal because NY State should legislate against Roger Mason Jr
