Wilson Chandler is playing like he's on a contract-extension drive. And so he is.

Chandler has until Monday night to sign an extension or he becomes a free agent in July.

Chris Luchey, Chandler's agent, was at the Garden Saturday night and has set up another meeting with Donnie Walsh for Sunday to continue to discussions.

Chandler, whose rookie deal expires this summer, has raised his stock since Luchey first began talks with Walsh two weeks ago, as first reported in The Post. Chandler, an early favorite for Sixth Man of the Year, added 22 points and 16 rebounds in Saturday's loss to the Blazers.

In three games, he is averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds and could become a trade chip in a Carmelo Anthony deal moreso than Danilo Gallinari and Anthony Randolph.

For a guy that most didn't want on the team turns out he is the best thing we have. He is living up to all the expectation he need to increase aggressiveness and he has done that. I say we better pray he signs the extension or we are losing him to FA and getting stuck with Gallo. I would rather have Melo and Chandler than Melo and Gallo.

i'm inclined to agree w/u... Wilson's game would probably be a better complement to Melo because of his superior shotblocking & rebounding ability... but when AR comes back do u think Wilson's role gets diminished somewhat, or do u think Gallo's minutes will take a hit?

So WC is playing for a contract...I wouldn't sign him, and I don't think Walsh will..they can match any offer and still do a S&T..let him kick ass this season and prove his worth

This is not Chandler's last year. Next year he has a $3.1 mil qualifying offer.

I think mike's gonna give Gallo the duhon treatment, at least 20 games

Qualifying offer is the offer you need to extend to make a guy a restricted free agent. At the end of the year he will probably be a RFA.

Definitely, and Gallo is no Duhon. He will get it together before then. If not, he will need to hire a psychiatrist, because he has all the skills he needs.

Duhon treatment? How many minutes has Gallo logged the last two games?

I don't see how Chandlers minutes could possibly take any hit with the way he's playing. Gallo is hurting the team pretty bad right now. When Gallo heals and gets his head on straight, he'll get the minutes back from the Roger Masons and Bill Walkers. AR will take the minutes from Moz and maybe even Turiaf if he plays well enough.

Yup, and he's made the benching quite noticable to anyone whose watching, because there have been times when we've needed the good Gallo's 3 pt shootin. MDA has recognized that Gallinari is hurting, more than helping, and kept him seated.

The Rooster is too co#ky. He needs to take a step back and come down to earth. I think that the life stile new hair doo and party life have something to do with his poor performance. Lots of players get caught up in New York and can't handle the fame. David Lee was not one of them.

If Chandler does indeed become Shawn Marion II (20ppg/10rpg/1bpg/1.5spg), all w/o specific plays being run for him) and can do it over the course of a full season, what is he worth?

Dallas Mavericks
On July 9, 2009, Marion signed a five-year $39 million contract and was immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a four-team swap among Raptors, Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic.[9] He is wearing the number 0 on his jersey.

Rose is not the answer.

Well that is a steal. Marion in his prime was definitely worth more than a guy like David Lee is worth now. I think a player with those #s and a decent agent is gonna be getting at least a $60 mil contract.
