In the Knicks vs Portland game tonight in the last Knick possession of the game Camby blatantly fouls Amare and then slaps the ball out of Amare's hands helping the ball careen off of his hip. The referees had a video review to see who the ball went off of last. The video clearly shows that the ball went off of Amare, thus the possession went to Portland. Why? Because video review is only used to check the possession of the ball not to see if they missed a call. I guess this rule was put in place in order to stop an endless parade to the video monitor to see if each and every possession in the closing minutes has a missed call. But isn't it silly to see that you missed a call in a video and not call the foul after witnessing it on the monitor during a review. This nba rule should be changed. The referees should be told, while doing a video review to see who a ball went out of bounds on if you witness a foul being committed, call it. It seems to be common sense to me. What do you guys think?

I was listening to the dialogue but not watching the review. I thought Clyde said it wasn't a foul. Replay is a pretty tough thing to set up guidelines for. I think you always want the right call made on a foul but those calls go both ways. I guess I am on the fence about this. I'll try to catch the replay of the game and see the play again.

The actual slap away was not a foul, the push from Camby right before the slap away was. It should have been called and the referees definitely saw it on the monitor.

Replay will never be used for judgement calls like fouls. Unless they want to open Pandora's Box, it can only be used for issues that are black and white, as it was used to determine who touched the ball last before it went out of bounds.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Yeah we haven't been getting a good whistle so far but if we can win some games against weaker teams and build up the rep of the team, there will be more respect from the refs. They'll give us the benefit of the doubt more often. We still have a bit of stigma since only Amar'e is considered a star by the Refs and even then cuz he's a Knick now it seems like he is getting few less calls IMO.
