"Chandler has been dealing with trade rumors since draft night and now he finds out he's not going to start. Wilson has stayed strong. Most players who find out they are set to come to come off the bench complain or just have a negative attitude toward the coach and team.

... However, Wilson Chandler has turned his new role coming off the bench into a positive. "It's all about the team"...

For the last few years Wilson Chandler has had the responsibility of playing different positions, from the power forward to the small forward, and he has accepted the challenge without complaint. Besides that, on the defensive end of the court he is also asked to guard players that are faster than him or have a height advantage over him. You will not get any complaints from Wilson Chandler."

- BigC, From the Baseline

Nor will you get any complaints from his Campaign Manager

I think the smart short term move is to put Chandler on the bench so he learns to be aggressive from the start. Once he develops that killer instinct and keeping it on throughout, the smart long term move is to have Chandler be our starting 3. He's more of what I want out of the position than Gallo

Wilson has indeed held his own in multiple positions. And he has been a really good team player, the Mayor is a true Knick.

I ok with my front office

1)there not gonna make a trade that guts the team
2)there not going to lead us back into cap hell unless it makes us insint title contenders
3)there not going to make a trade unless it makes us better
4)The coach and GM/Pres have a great relationship.

Have to disagree. I know we value height and shooting ability, but if you can't get spacing with speed or guile, it's for naught

And please, don't come back with BB IQ, it's all relative.

The Knicks really need to keep Chandler. He is only 23 and is already very good. He is a year younger than Rautins and only a year older than Fields.

Chandler is a team player. He is the type of guy you will want when you make a playoff run. We neen to hold out and force Denver to take what we want them to have. If Mello really want to come to New York He will be here. I beleive Chandler will be an allstar some day real soon. I bet Chandler would sign with us taking less money than he can get from another team.

How? Because Gallo has an inch or 2 on Will? Will is a far better athlete.

There both on my team so I don't care who is better. As long as they both continue to improve why does it have to be a competition. By the way if you notice one of the reasons wilson is scoring so easily is landry is allowing him to move to the PF spot. He's killing the opposing teams big guys

I just hope that people will like me

This just proves that if you give a coach a roster with some good players, it makes it easier to come up with a rotation that works. Even if it's not what many assumed the rotation would be. You can see why Mike decided to go this way. Now after Mike gets to see more games with this rotation he'll be able to tweak it some more. I bet Mason is one of the changes he'll end up making. Aside from Gallo just about everyone else is doing what we want them to do. The whole team isn't even clicking on all cylinders yet, but you can see how it should work when they do start playing better.

anyone who's watched the games would have to agree that right now, Wilson looks like the better player than Gallo... Gallo's game has regressed from last year from what he's shown so far in the early going... hopefully that's just due to some lingering injury & he snaps out of it.

as for potential, that's anyone's guess... i would say Gallo's probably got more value around the league in the eyes of other GM's.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

You have to ask yourself what's more likely: A) a player transforms his game to a new level in year 4 or B) he has a really impressive 3 game stretch that's not indicative of major long-term improvement. I sure hope it's A with Chandler but I suspect A is much more common and statistically a much more likely bet. Meanwhile his trade value is probably at an all-time high right now.

Why must we trade him? Why can't we keep him to play with Mello. If we trade Chandler for Mello and give them Fields and others. How much better would we be? We needed a coach like Avery Johnson or Byron Scott. I really don't know how good the Knicks are until we stop playing silly ball and play real ball. And by the way Mello and Amear together will only just get us to the playoffs and first round we are out in D'Antonio's system.

The Answer Man Never Starts Idle Rumors

Q. papabear - Why must we trade him?

A. Because proposing trades is easier than critiquing the subtle development of a player in the context of 8-9 other guys.

Gallo is currently playing injured. What does having Chandler playing better prove? Also Chandler's agent is currently trying to negotiate a new contract with the Knicks. Don't you think Chandler might have extra motivation currently?

I dunno, I'm kind of liking this 6th man role for Chandler. He can sub in for anyone from the 2-5 (with Amare moving to center if Mozgov has to sit). That's a lot of versatility that even Randolph can't match.
