I thought he was a lock. He's a 6-11 PF who could fit right in here--very active rebounder--we need to bring in two players who help this rebounding gig.
Dump Rautins and bring in Rolle or Barron.

I agree about dumping Rautins but I also think they could just as easily dump Williams. That signing just doesn't make sense 3 months after his most recent arrest.

Dump Rautins!?! Man that kid is gonna develop into a pretty good PG down the line IMO. He's smart and much more athletic than some think. He's just got the right combo of BB IQ and Shooters stroke. His court vision is very good as well. It takes high level PG's some time to fully develop, so it's understandable if Andy needs a bit more time to fully develop at the NBA level being that he's been changing position the last year or so. I think he's gonna actually help us at some point this year.

If you're gonna dump someone let be Williams. The way things look, the only minutes someone can take are gonna be Turiafs. I think Mike is gonna try to make sure there are some minutes for AR to develop after that there really won't be much room for any new addition that we bring in simply to bolster the rebounding. What's the point of bringing in some PF to sit on the bench behind all the other guys we have already?

I'm keeping Rautins for the time being as my 3rd ball-handler that can shoot & pass...We're OK there but I agree on Williams. If Williams ever gets any time here at all it'll be because one of are other wings got hurt. Plus they agreed to pay him a nice little chunk of change -- something close to $900,000, the minimum for a 4-year veteran.

Quite a few players have gotten waived in the last 24 hrs or so --- Briggs mentioned Rolle -- also Curtis Jerrells by the Hornets (I guess he became expendable after they got Bayless), Jeff Pendergraph by Portland (suffered a season-ending ACL injury a couple of weeks ago), Marqus Blakely by the Clippers..Blakely actually looked good to me in SL for the Clips.

Rebounding may be a problem for just a little while, but what real use would another big add except for depth?

You want to give Moz as much minutes as he can get. Amare gonna cover the 4/5 for 35+ minutes a night. Chandler and Gallo can slide to the 4 and you have AR to develop. Turiaf is good for 10-15 minutes a night.

Where are the minutes gonna come from for another PF/C?

briggs - We already have Magnum Rolle in Anthony Randolph

"Weaknesses: Not a physical player, he lacks the strength and mass to battle inside ... Gets thrown around and has a hard time fighting for position on both ends ... Not a go-to scoring threat in the post ... Has struggled with inconsistent play ... Must cut down on mistakes ..."

Now, if you wanna talk about signing Esther Rolle...

Exactly! Guys want to see a solid rotation and that means only the best players are gonna play. Some guy that we add just for rebounding, would have to merit being on the floor instead of someone else and just rebounding wouldn't be enough. I don't know what happened with Earl Barron and the Knicks, but i'm not waistin any more thought on that guy. This is the team we have and I think the guys we have can do a better job. They're not gonna be a top rebounding team but they can do better. But how about this... MAKE SOME DAMN SHOTS!!! That's the real problem. We hit shots and none of that rebounding stuff is gonna be an issue. Guys are getting wide open shots. They've just got to knock them down.

Indiana was looking to make a 2 for 1 trade but no one bit. They were at 16 players and needed to cut one.

Some tough decisions must be made. I don't think we can poo poo what weve seen in terms of rebounding. You cant wish it away--its a fundamental part of the game and were terrible at it.

Im a little nervous going into the season with Mosgov at C and Turriaf as the primary(only back up) we are dead short there. I havent seen enough from rautins to warrant keeping him as a third ballhandler anyway--let him go play 30 minutes in a European league--we need some help upfront.

If the Knicks were in the middle of the playoff pack I might agree with you, but they aren't. And this is a year that Moz needs a ton of minutes. And so do Gallo and AR based upon how well they play.

That's just how it falls some times.

No way in the world the Knicks give up on Rautins at this point.

I'm not in love with the guy, but he is going nowhere, even if some folks will only see keeping him as a face-saving decision by the Knicks.
