Heat forward Mike Miller injured the thumb on his shooting hand last week while guarding teammate LeBron James.

"I heard a pop," said Miller, who attended the team's practice on Sunday. "I knew from the beginning it wasn't a good thing."

Miller had surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament and his fractured thumb. He is expected to be out at least until January.

He tried to convince the team that he could play through the injury.

"I felt like if we wrapped it up and splinted it, it would be all right, but obviously we have to listen to the doctors and they forced me to have the surgery, which down the road will probably be a good thing," Miller said.

"Right now it doesn't feel like it, but it is what it is now, I have to make the most of it."

I dont understand all the Lebron hate. I actually find it comical. Lebron never once said he wanted to come to NY. Now everyones salty because he didn't?

The Heat are the #1 team in East with or without Mike Miller.

So now Chris Bosh is chopped liver? Chris Bosh is an allstar and his defense is decent. Miami just needs to keep 2 of their big 3 healthy and they will be rocking.

Where have you been? LeCon have been conning us all along. All he had to say was he had no interest coming to New York. But he lied and misled us. We gave away talent just to get cap space to get LeCon. Like I said before, LeCon will regret the day that he played us and every other team that thought they had a chance to get him.

Ok we get it.

They hype on Miami is what gets knick fans.

We'd love Lebron if he came. He didn't which most could live but "The Decision" and the pep-rally was so over the top he put himself in this hateful position. Riles gets little love anymore either.

FLash lasted 3 minutes in preseason and Miller is not out for half the season.

While Miami and Boston get all the headlines Orlando is stacked. On paper they are deeper than Miami by far and younger than Celts. Can't say they are a sleeper but this could be the year.

Wade won a championship with Shaq. The Cavs were one of the best defensive units in the league and still couldn't win. Chris Bosh's defense is awful aside from a blocked shot a game. He's no intimidator though. You can't win a championship or even a league championship with "decent" frontcourt defense. Name me one team that did in recent years.
