Too bad they coundn't have kept both. Maybe Ewing can join the team after the trade deadline or if the Melo trade happens.

Absolute dumb move.

Ruined potential good karma for a guy who is practically worthless.

Crazy, Shawne Williams must have really impressed the staff. Guess I cant feel too bad about keeping a former top 20 pick.
Had enough Melo?

The articles I've read today say PEJ is really a good kid with his head screwed on correctly. I hope he finds an NBA home.

Childs2Dudley - the only dumb move would have been keeping the player whose Dad played for the franchise, because his dad played for the franchise

Donnie Walnuts is not dumb

He just seems like the guy you keep. He truly made the team two years ago and was let go because of the Roberson signing. Walsh keeps trying to bring him back and do the right thing. I thought he was set because some of his contract was guaranteed. It would have been great to have the Patrick Ewing chants back in the Garden for blowouts when the bench was emptied.

Is he trying to bring Ewing back or is he just playing the Ewing card to hype the team and the fan base. When ever they see Ewing Jr fan can not but help be nostalgic about the past.

You Do The Math

Patrick Ewing and Patrick Ewing Jr are two different people

Patrick Ewing is better than Shawne Williams

Patrick Ewing Jr is not

No big deal--worried about 1-9

I still think we can have a good team. We have a great player and some guys need to step up. I think we need to address a third C--one who can score more than a point. I think Turriaf is a third C--we need a guy who can score 8-10 points and grab some rebounds with it.

Totally agree, Earl. Besides, most likely Williams and or Jr. will be wearing Armani's behind the bench anyway. This move has zero impact on the core rotation.

Armani--what a waste--Gentleman's Warehouse 3 suits 400$:)

"Either your sweat or your blood will be left on the practice court, (or you will be gone)..."

The Knicks haven't lost a Ewing

They have gained a 6'9 ball handler with superior skills who was in desperate need of a mentor or an ultimatum

Donnie Walnuts made him an offer he could not refuse

Williams was last arrested in July. He has quite a rap sheet and it hasn't even been three months since his last arrest. I knew he had had some problems but I thought he had not been in trouble for awhile. I think there are more reasons to question this than just Ew is a strong defender and Williams has a better outside shot.

Thats too bad. Ewing is an energy guy who could've been good guy to have in your practices, and an energy player at the end of the bench. Shawne Williams has better long range potential and he must've played really well in camp.

Energy Guy?

“I wouldn’t let [the name ‘Ewing’] enter into it,” Walsh said, “and I didn’t let a lot of things with Shawne enter into it. In the end, Mike and I did what we think is best for the team.”

Best five play

Williams was actually the most natural rebounder on the floor for the Knicks during the preseason. He can't shoot from distance, but he also knows that he can't shoot from distance, which is somewhat valuable.

I could see giving him minutes if he's on the floor with a group that is all scorers, like Gallo/AR/STAT/Felton

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
