At least that's how it's looking to me right now. It almost seems like someone in Denver leaked or created this notion to get the ball rolling again with Jersey. I still don't see how NJ's is really better, barring the fact that Denver wants picks. The players NY is offering are quality YOUNG players from a team that far exceeded the 12 wins that NJ was barely able to eek out last season. Favors is the only player they have that isn't tarnished from that fiasco. I'm still confounded why Melo would sign there. I guess Denver's perpetually reported lack of interest AND the "poor" play (AND write-ups of said play) of the pieces the Knicks would look to trade aren't helping NY either.

Again, Melo to NJ equals a basic failure of Walsh's plan...at least from my immediate perspective. Maybe Danilo become Dirk and AR becomes Garnett and they valiantly contended and maybe upset everyone in two or three years, but regardless of how nice it is to imagine it's pretty much impossible to swallow.

the problem is its not up to Denver or NJ, its up to Melo. Melo doesnt want to go to NJ. Its pretty pretty clear he has HEAT envy and wants to play w/ his buddy Amare in the Garden which is also his favorite place to play.

Thought Denver had said they want to wait till Dec 15th to do any deal...when FA player restrictions expire

I just don't see it. According to everything that written about the last deal, Denver didn't want to add any salary, BUT Melo was ready to sign off going to NJ (meaning he'd sign an extension with them). So if Denver and NJ can get it done without Denver adding any salary, why would Melo suddenly change his mind?

I'm just no longer sold on the notion of the Knicks being (where he wants to play" or his "first choice". He has the ability to force the situation but he's not using it, that's how much he really wants to play for the Knicks.

I hope that we are not being played again. If our young players had a good pre-season there would have been more interest. Maybe they are playing this way until the Mello situration goes away.

I actually think it's the other way around. I think Denver is playing the Nets to get a deal done with Knicks. It makes sense because we hear a lot about how badly Melo wants to play for the Knicks but at the same time, it seems like he is working with Denver to get them good value. This also goes along with the notion that Walsh didn't want to originally include Gallo+AR (which he now seems willing to do after seeing the Nets in the picture).

I think if Denver/Melo wanted a deal done with the Nets, it might have been done by now as New Jersey has made it clear they are willing to give up almost anything/everything outside of Lopez. Instead, perhaps Melo doesn't want to play for the Nets and both him and the Nuggets are working together to get something done with the Knicks. Either way (whether it's NJ or NY getting played) you can't blame Denver for being patient and trying to get these teams to bid against each other.

That's some serious optimism you've got going on right there. Looking at the wrld through blue and orange glass...Here here!

And Devin Harris looked like crap against us. He had a sub par year last year and is off to another great start.
