play close to 40 minutes--sit Amare start Randolph @ 4 and Gallo @3. I want to see production over a full game whether good or bad. I want to give these a guys a full 35-40 minutes--thats good business--lets not panic here--lets see what we have.

i agree. it's more important to let them play through the kinks at this point.

Why not make them feel like they are being showcased.

Do you mean this, or is it sarcasm (not being critical).

Gallinari is not going to want to be showcased, in fact his pre-season play has probably lowered his trade value at this point. He is not looking to leave NY, and I don't think it was ever something he even imagined happening when he came to the NBA.

You know it is bad for him when even a Gallo suck-up like myself is wondering were his head is at, and where are the post-up skills he was fine tuning in the off-season.

I don't think he is holding up that well under the shadow of a trade in which his name has been mentioned, and I think this has affected his game, but I'll also say that it does not look as if he has added any new wrinkles to his game, and in some area, I feel he has even regressed, a bit.

I play sports. I would be quite happy if I was being showcased. You need to play to get better. Gallo and AR can be happy campers all they want but they both want to be players in this league

Both of these guys have played limited minutes with new players. I want to see them where they are the guys for a night randolph at 4 gallo at 3. 35-40 minutes this might be a time to stop and think in every direction. we could make a perilous move by evaluating 3 pre season games with two 21 year old guys playing limited minutes under trade pressure and for randolph a new system. let them run and play ton ight

well...last night was the first time I've seen Gallo not shy away from contact...curious to see if he goes for contact again tonight or goes back to chucking

doesn't look as if he has ever mentally gotten over his back issues....or if the back problem just never goes away 100%. Last night in the 2nd qtr was a good sign....except he was rushing his shots in the paint. Amare looks so smooth, Gallinari looked like HOLY SH*T i better hurry before i get hammered....his timing will only come if he continues to attack...we'll see

Who are you showcasing yourself for if you are Gallo?

Play lights out ball so Denver agrees to take you in a trade and you end up leaving the place where you want play the rest of you career?

Show casing is for players who don't want to be where they are.

Randolph is much more of a four than Chandler despite his few bad games of rebounding. Elton brand has been rebounding very poorly and is slow as molasses right now

What I want to see is a glimpse of the potential we speak of. A 10 minute stretch were that peter pan magic starphuch dust swims on the court where the majestic fundamentals of basketball come together in one glorious moment and Donnie says, "No dammit, I won't do it!!!!!!The hell with Isiah and Jim Dolan, this team will persist and god willing MDA will lead these men to lead the league in scoring and we will all be a witness!!!"

Or,

Don't give it away Donnie. They get one of Gallo or AR, but not both. Phuch em, they got bupkus.

I have not been impressed with any of Gallo's moves in the post, but Amare looks terrible at times, and "smooth" is never a word I would associate with this part of his game. He gets foul calls, which is good for us, but Amare gets a lot of shots blocked and I've been a little surprised at the lack of technique. He is more likely to bull his way into a basket, than look like a Tim Duncan in the post.

Gallinari's value to the Knicks, and the skill which will make it easier for him to drive to the basket is his outside shot, and what you call "chucking" will continue until he finds consistency on his shot. If he does not have the shot going down, guys will lay off until he hits the J.

He is also getting few, if any, goods shots off of drives by our PGs. He had one shot from the outside yesterday, and it was a lightly contested corner 3 on a Felton penetration assist. Watch the last two games and tell me how many times he has been given a free shot off of a penetration or a ball rotation pass.

I have not been impressed with Gallo so far this pre-season- I expected to see some new tools in his offensive toolbox, and he has shown me nothing new at all. But an NBA game is not a 2/2 or 3/3 pickup game, where you can frequently get by without help from your teammates.

The back comments seems foolish, seeing that he takes so many charges and ends up on the floor. If his new move was the Jazz-hands, you might wonder about his back, but he has taken a number of charges and flopped once or twice- not things you do with a bad back.

Phew, at least everyone hasn't been drinking the KoolAid. Thanks for keeping it real, Nalod.

They can have one of the Yoots, not both. And forget about Toney Douglas.

"I have not been impressed with any of Gallo's moves in the post" - agreed he looks out of control

"but Amare looks terrible at times, and "smooth" is never a word I would associate with this part of his game. He is more likely to bull his way into a basket, than look like a Tim Duncan in the post." - he is a beast...and he takes his shot. he knows exactly what 'he' wants to do and he executes. that is what i meant by smooth..prolly poor choice of words but he doesn't look rushed and executes his shot. yes, he does get blocked sometimes, but he also scores alot of points and most of all...he knows when to take over a game.

"Gallinari's value to the Knicks, and the skill which will make it easier for him to drive to the basket is his outside shot, and what you call "chucking" will continue until he finds consistency on his shot. If he does not have the shot going down, guys will lay off until he hits the J." - and when it's not falling, he keeps chucking..fearless, maybe, but he needs to find another way to score when his shot isn't falling. pretty sure that is what even his coach is telling him, also to be more aggressive. I just want to see him execute the things his coach is saying in the media that he wants him to work on.

"He is also getting few, if any, goods shots off of drives by our PGs. He had one shot from the outside yesterday, and it was a lightly contested corner 3 on a Felton penetration assist. Watch the last two games and tell me how many times he has been given a free shot off of a penetration or a ball rotation pass." - well, i'm not going to watch the games again, but i will watch for it going forward. I would like to see him move better w/o the ball and not just stand at the 3 point line. I thought he did that better last night in the 2nd qtr and the results showed...i liked the effort, but i'd like to see it for an entire game if he is going to start

"I have not been impressed with Gallo so far this pre-season- I expected to see some new tools in his offensive toolbox, and he has shown me nothing new at all. But an NBA game is not a 2/2 or 3/3 pickup game, where you can frequently get by without help from your teammates." Thought I saw Amare run up to Gallo with encouragement after a he got the ball in the paint and dished it to Amare for the stuff....it was good to see Gallo breaking towards the basket w/o the ball and he was rewarded with a nice asst/conversion to Amare. I would like to see more of that...good things happen when he is more aggressive...pretty sure I've seen quotes of MDA saying that he wants that. 3rd qtr he went back to standing at the 3 pt line and got yanked by MDA, so i guess you could say that MDA is going to force the issue...i like that. Hope the kid can execute because he has good people around him who only want him to succeed...but this year you can see it's about winning, so if he doesn't execute i think you'll see his minutes shrink.

"The back comments seems foolish, seeing that he takes so many charges and ends up on the floor. If his new move was the Jazz-hands, you might wonder about his back, but he has taken a number of charges and flopped once or twice- not things you do with a bad back." I think it's a valid question, but i am not an expert. I just kind explain away while the kid can sometimes be agggressive, then dissapear

TD is I'm afraid trade fodder.

according to Tommy Dee's game thread Gallo is out via Alan Hahn
apparently as a consequence of a nerve problem

The Answer Man wants to see Mozgov keep the shorter length socks and:

- Ray Felton to switch to white adidas because the black ones look clunky with white socks

- Dancing Harry

- Toney Douglas, Anthony Randolph and Landry Fields to be The Untouchables

- another 6'10 240 pound power forward in the mix built like Kurt Thomas

- Mark Jackson as Knicks Head Coach if they fail to make the playoffs

- a throwback night when they break out the white warmup jackets

once a knick always a knick

I like it and would just add Turiaf as well. He brings energy and hustle and a good passing game.
And 6 tough fouls when needed.

Mozgov is Russian for brains.
