This is the shortened version because I'm on my phone. I will be happy to field individual gestions both through this thread and privately
Danilo-he loves the team concept(which is good) but he doesn't realize that sometimes shooting a lot is part of the team concept when the team needs that from you. He needs to be aggressive looking for his shot when amare is not there. I know nyers hate jump shooters but I'm okay with him shooting a lot of threes. As long as he mixing it up, I'm. Okay with a boatload of threes. Its his job. But he can't drift and so far in preseason at times he's still drifting. He's young so maybe with time he learns, maybe he doesn't. I do however like his rebounding this preseason. When people say he can't play d they are starting to sound ridiculous.
Amare-offensively has been great. He's been killing people. His rebounding however has been piss poor, as has his pick and roll defense. That part of his game is worse then dlee if you ask me. The reest of his defense seems solid can't say I've really watched, but he seems active.
Timofey-solid so far. I like that he is a threat to score anywhere on the floor. His defense has been solid as well. I think he has good instincts and is affecting a lot of shots. His foul trouble seems to be a mixture of not knowing the us game and the nba officials not knowing his. I think hell learn. He runs the pick and roll very well but noone finds him. Last game there were at least 3 missed alley oops. I think they will come as the pgs get used to playing with him.
Felton- I loved him on charlotte but this preseason he's been a nonfactor. He's getting into the paint but finishing like duhon. His drive and kick passes have been dead on accurate put he's struggling with the pick and roll. With most players you wait until they are open on the pick and roll before passing. This is what felton is doing. With guys like karl malone and amare no need to wait. As soon as he slips the pick you pass it and let him make the play. This is exactly what nash did. Again the hope is that he will learn the more he plays with him.
Wilson-looks great to me so far. Shooting great, attacking the basket and simply brutalizing 2 guards. He looks physically imposing and using it.if danilo won't step up and become the number 2 scorer maybe he can.
Randolph-its all been said. Unreal skillset but does not know how to play the game. Clearly going to be frustrating to watch....but he's still young
Td- love this guy. He's doing what backup PGs should do. He harassing the other tams guard and just creating havoc. His passing hasn't shown improvement but its early. His role demands domeone to be a pest and make things happen and that is what he is doing.
Bill Walker-his roster has been solid like last year. I forget that he's a solid passer. He seems to have learned from his days in boston. He still has some bonehead drive but overall his offense is heady and solid. Haven't watched enough of his d to say if he has improved or not.
Landry-two things that I heard he could not do-guard 2s and shoot the ball. So far both seem to be wrong. His hands are all over the passing lanes and he's been solid in man on man situations.
What's most impressive to me has been his pressure d. He's a pest like td. I think hell get beat off the dribble if he pressures too much, but hell also get a few big steals as well.
Turiaf- he does so little stat wise that you really have to watch him to appreciate him. He's the anti randolph, no talent but just understands the game. On defense he closes down penetration before it happens, just through positioning. On offense, the ball moves very well when he is in the game. He's actually a very good passer.
Roger mason- not sure what he does or what the staff sees in him. I think they are praying he becomes the player he was two years ago.
Eddie curry-fat
Andy rautins-I thought he'd bomb but he looks good. Still waiting for him to start shooting better but not something I'm worried about. What impresses me is his ability to get in the paint and dish. He didn't do. Too much of that at syracuse so this was a surprise. So far so good
