The Knicks flew back home from Paris yesterday with a wonderful team picture by Eiffel Tower, and with coach Mike D'Antoni having visions of playing most of his players this season.

One of the revelations of the Euro-trip came when D'Antoni said he's eyeing an 11-man rotation. This from a coach who stubbornly stuck with seven men in Phoenix and mostly an eight-man unit in New York.

In Wednesday's 106-100 loss at the Bercy to the Timberwolves, the bright spots were second-round rookies, forward Landry Fields (5 of 9, 13 points in 16:19) and point guard Andy Rautins (2 of 3 on 3-pointers, six points, 11:43). They actually might play this season.

"You can't play harder than that," D'Antoni said of the duo.

D'Antoni first mentioned the 11-man concept in Milan. And as he left Paris, it's still in play. D'Antoni said he wants to press and run so fiercely, he needs bodies. The skeptical view is no eight-man unit has stood out, and they are showcasing guys for a Carmelo Anthony trade.

"We can play a lot of guys," D'Antoni said. "We're going to have to press, run and use more guys this year because they can obviously play."

I really didn't watch either game, but did the Knicks press at all?

Childs2Dudley - Please show me the quote.

Where did D'Antoni EVER mention playing eleven guys? It is nothing more than a Berman-fabricated assumption based on two yoots playing well.

The assumption, disguised a bait to spur non-thinking readers, is that the D'Antoni will simply add the news guys to players Berman ASSUMES have guaranteed minutes. Wrong. D'Antoni ain't hinted at playing eleven guys, Donnie Walnuts ain't through shuffling the deck and this ain't college.

Truth

Minutes are not guaranteed and the roster is a fluid thing. Especially with so much work to be done in the cohesion area. Unfortunately, Berman is so stuck in the Knicks past ("the skeptical view") that he is unable to think in the present. Ergo, you get the same redundant bullsh!t.

Best five play. Bulledat.

I don't see the point in the 10th or 11th man in the rotation getting 3 or 5 minutes in the 2nd Quarter. Nine players is the ideal number imo.

iSergio - no biggie, I'm jus sayin.

The Knicks will face tough decisions on minutes from the most young talent they have had since Red Holzman's second tour. Read my lips, the side story will be manufactured around guys who feel entitled to more playing time.

Eddy Curry will pop another exercise ball, setting an NBA record for the ages. He is bundled with two other players on the morning of the first regular season game. You heard it here first.

If there is an eleven man rotation I'm not The Answer Man.

I have learned that Mike says a lot of things to reporters but I just have to wait and see who plays on the court.

interesting strategy, should work if the guys can develop good chemistry but the more people that play the harder it is to achieve good chemistry.

When you play a larger rotation you have fresh legs in the game more so than if you play 7 guys. So, in theory, this can hold merit. Especially, given the fact that we might have 11 solid rotation players on this team. And thats before Azbuike comes back or Roger Mason finds his shot.

I agree. I think he plays 8 guys and despite all the praise Mosgov ends up at 11-15 minutes a game.
