This is from Dan Miranda. Another blogger. I have no idea who is his source.

If this includes either Gallo or AR, I will be really pissed.

Sources: Melo Deal Could Go Down As Early As Tonight To Knicks

View Comments

With Melo to Nets rumors now out the door, the Knicks are apparently stepping in and taking their spot, according to a media source.

On the outside, Walsh has been portraying a “we don’t need him” type of attitude, but apparently, on the inside, he’s been trying to get the three time All-Star to New York as soon as possible.

The source did not indicate who the Knicks would deal. It seems probable that Eddy Curry’s contract, Gallinari and/or Randolph would likely be involved in the trade.

Last weekend though, it seemed like the Nets were the sure favorite in the deal. It even looked like Anthony would sign off on the team too, but the Nuggets backed down and nothing would inevitably happen. While the Nuggets/Knicks deal may not happen tonight, the Knicks are certainly the front-runner with last weekend’s event’s are out the door.

During the Denver press conference on Monday of this week, Melo indicated that he was happy being in Denver.

”At the end of the season, I’ll sit down with my team, sit down with the Nuggets, we’ll discuss it and go from there,” the Brooklyn born Nugget said on media day.

When all is said and done, though, it appears that the Knicks may get the last laugh.

So they're gonna trade Gallo while they're in Italy and will be playing Milan team?

If it includes both then we aren't gaining much - especially if we ship the #1 we are rumored to be acquiring in 2011.

I could see shipping one (preferably AR in my opinion) and EC + the draft pick. Sending both basically guts the team and isn't worth it.

I'm right there with you that would just be a wash out not a gain, we need depth on this team. I'm curious though cause most people are saying wilson will be traded for a first rounder, now why would the Nuggets think a first rounder would be better than just getting Wilson. It's not like the Nba drafts are deep anymore unless you're guaranteed a top 2 or 3 pick I would take Wilson Chandler over that any day.

No layups!

Funny how UK has another thread going comparing bloggers to beat writers (I was one who looked at the bloggers in a positive light.)and this fellow comes out with such a bold, and what seems to be reckless, blog.

This blogger seems to be piggybacking on the ESPN report, no?

Hahn tweeted this about the #1 pick issue:
From what I understand, there is no actual trade for a first. There are scenarios in which the Knicks know they can get one if they need to.

Both ESPN and Miranda are just taking some big swings, hoping to connect and go long, IMO.

I think that shows Wilson might not have as much value as some fans place on him. Not sure though. I might roll the dice on a first rounder over him if the pick was coming from a team I thought would net me a top 10 selection. I guess it all depends. Maybe they want a guy like AR or Gallo as a starting piece and then want a pick to fill out the roster later I could see that (plus it's a great trading chip).

The whole pick thing makes no sense. Who is gonna give us a good pick? Isn't it more likely to be a team that has no desire to keep their draft pick? A team that is probably not going to be in the lottery? As you say wouldn't Chandler be better than a low 1st rounder anyway? The kid can play! He's not even finished developing yet. I think Denver is just posturing cuz they don't really want to deal and they want to make it tough for us to make a deal. They're not getting a good pick unless it's a losing team like the Nets.

I cannot see them trading Danilo Gallinari while they are in Italy. So this probably means Wilson Chandler or Anthony Randolph or both - which is fine by me. I just want this to happen already. Reading about this every few days for the next year is going to be torture.

There's one thing we've all been forgetting...DOLAN!!! DOLAN wants Melo to further market his MSG franchise. You add Melo and it all but finishes the Nets and their Brooklyn encroachment. He's not happy about the Possibility that the Nets could end up with a better team and be right on his doorstep. This is the biggest reason why this deal is likely to go down. I have been so stuck on the merits of the deal that I forgot how Dolan thinks bottom line above everything. MAN I've been so high off the new season and team that i've forgotten about Dolan.

Could this be why they have played up AR in the press?

He's very passionate and seems to be chasing down every story he can. He has 250 followers on twitter and seems destined to make his mark. He may have broken a huge trade. If nothing else it gets his name and site out there.

After the summer of LeBron, I've come to trust Hahn more than any other reporter when it comes to Knicks rumors. I guess working for Newsday, which is owned by Cablevision, gives him pretty good access to actual Knicks sources.

I think if any combination of those players and a pick the Nuggets could use in three years gets the trade done it would have happened. I think Randolph, Gallo or both go along with Chandler. I like Melo a lot but I don't know if I make that deal.
