Is it me or do the bloggers do a much better job of covering training camp. While the Sportswriters seemed to be focused upon Lecon and Carmelo and making sarcastic comments about how bad we will be, we are getting some legit interviews and team information from the blogosphere. Let me know if this is just me.

I really like the blogs. This time of year, around the trading deadline, around the draft and during free agency I found myself reading Tommy D's stuff a lot. Other times of the year it seems like he is just a hub where you can connect to a link and see his opinion about it. Posting and Toasting, and Knickerblogger always seem to be good.

We added KnicksVision blog about 2-3 weeks ago or something. Damn energetic 15 year old is giving me more info than Berm and Isola. Apparently cutting class to do it too LOL

I think that many of the bloggers care more about the teams they write about, and the sport itself, than the pros. There is also a much more rapid weeding out process, because bloggers have to produce, or they become marginalized, unlike beat writers, who have traditionally faced limited competition in their field.

The same things which happened in politics- where we have seen a revolution in where info comes from and is interpreted- is happening in sports journalism, and in the end, the readers usually benefit.

typical isola post:

Walsh still recovering from neck surgery but maintains his health does not prevent him from performing his job, although the knicks failed to sign Lebron James...

What is the point of that? Who cars if walsh is in a wheel chair and can w move on from lebron and focus on the guys that are on the knicks

I think it's because bloggers are true diehard fans like you and I. And I'm assuming they make little to no money for this. While guys like Frank Isola and Marc Berman could care less about the team. They would actually prefer turmoil and distractions, which means more newspapers sold and more hits on their sites. And Isola and Berman probbaly make six figures a year.

Which team are you a true diehard fan of again?

The sportswriters have to write stories that appeal to the casual fan. Your average "fan" isnt following the Knicks this time of year, and the only way they do is if they see a catchy headline while looking for articles on the NFL or the yankees. The blogs are more for hardcore fans who are interested in the development of the players vying for the end of our rotation, players that your casual fan doesn't care about

Being a diehard fan doesn't mean you have to be a homer and think every player is Larry Bird or Kevin Garnett.

I think Alan Hahn has been pretty decent, but overall, it is the bloggers. Their tweets are interesting too. BigC, Posting & Toasting and Tommy Dee have all done a very good job. I'm sure Knickerblogger has been OK too, but I haven't read them much. The videos are the best obviously.
