Stuck with cable for now.
I had that problem... they put a pole at the back of my property and installed the dish on that....right now, staying with cable may not only be your only bet, but the best one.. directv has turned into a trashy operation..
My cable bill is freaking offensive and the pricing on DirectTV is much better. They told me a "southern exposure" is all I need but its more western and I got no spot to punch a signal thru. I give the installer credit for not forcing the issue to only have problems later.
We got AT&T U-Vers coming soon. Like Verison "Fios" from what I can tell. Cable needs competition! These theives are just too much.
I agree.. cable companies are thieves and they are expensive, but Directv is not much cheaper, especially when it comes to their overpriced equiptment... but hey, in the end, they are all crooks.. AT&T Uverse is ok, but it runs on the old phone lines, old technology from what I am told and smaller bandwidths... Fios is another beast, very nice. My friends mom in maryland has it, whenever we go to visit his family, I love using verizon fios... too bad they have no plans at expanding to my part of GA.. I would drop satellite and cable in a heartbeat.. good luck..
i live in northern nj and for the most part 99% of where i live has fios capability.. except of course i'm in that 1%. in the townhome complex i live in, the people on the 'board' of the complex don't want to have verizon come in and put in the lines so im stuck with cablevision. the difference between cablevision and fios is like going from rick brunson to derrick rose. ugh.
Be careful bro...I've had Fios for awhile and while I generally like the service, the major drawback is that MSG is not offered in HD. And I didn't realize that until after I switched over, set up the new TV and looked for the Knick game that night in HD. I couldn't believe it wasn't offered in HD. Who the hell knew? Not me...What was I gonna do -- there was no going back then...I mean if the situation is not rectified sooner or later I might have to switch back..HUGE drawback with Fios and if you're a Knick fan (and a Ranger fan too) it's a big one, practically a deal breaker. If I had realized that before I never would've switched..
If you're really down on Cablevision, just call them and tell them you're not happy with the service, what you're paying etc. and thinking about jumping ship over to Fios..They'll wanna keep your business, they should negotiate a better deal for you on the spot.
