Let me get this straight, the New York Knicks are a charter franchise of the National Basketball Association. The team leads in sales of merchandise from year to year and plays in the largest media market. Then howcum it cannot get a color to match?

I keep looking at photographs of the home jerseys and compare the red of "New York" with the orange of the numerals and it just appears that someone was careless in the design and production. The white outline of the numerals either washes out the red as it appears on the lettering or there are two distinct colors. That is mot acceptable. I sincerely hope it was a premature media day delivery.

What would Mitchell&Ness do?

In all fairness, digital photo with reds are the toughest. Especially on White.

Or

Thats how its been an you never noticed?

Or

Just rough prototypes for media day and more are enroute from China!

Nalod - digital reds my butt. This has nothing to do with fairness. It is about excellence in design standards.

The color scheme has not always been that way. The orange numerals on the Knicks home jersey were previously trimmed in blue without a white border.

If you look carefully at Knicks home uniforms through the years, dating back to the memorable seventies, it has been this way. This year is the first departure from that tradition. First time in team history they’ve gone orange/white/blue.

(See the Classic look with Clyde... I dug the belt in the Bill Bradley photo)

On another note, I was looking at some vintage photographs of Bill Bradley and was digging the deeper blue of the road unis.

If they were rough prototypes for media day, then media day needs to be postponed.

"The orange numeral is irritating, bordering on pink. The white border makes the numbers (and the uni as a whole) look more washed out instead of (powerful)."

"If you’re going to re-design the jersey, do it with attention to detail. This kind of dreck makes me think that the only reason they made these, “changes” is to encourage we fans to re-buy all our Nix paraphernalia."

You look good - you play good

Why go through all the pain and suffering of Felton Spencer and Howard Eisley, clearing cap space, getting in the truck, Anucha, Vin Baker, draft lottery near-misses, dearly departed David Lee, restocking with a crew of first round picks, and FINALLY having a squad that includes some of the most lovable guys we've had in decades - if you're not going to give them a respectable uniform to wear?

Yeah, it IS that important.

Bernard King, Dean Meminger or Jerry Lucas would never be caught wearing one of those mis-matched (sheesh... the numeral on the back is different from the one on the front) faux "New York" jerseys.

We are not the freakin Toronto Raptors.

I have to admit that the color bothered me too, but my son thinks they look great. Maybe its a generational thing. Us old guys can't get with the crazy "hippy" color schemes or something. I like the uni overall, but that light orange number thing is distracting. Perhaps in time i'll just get used to it.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Uniform looks really good to me.

The slight adjustment really isn't that slight to me. The added orange stripes and the neckline make the jersey look way better.

also ,looks like the numbers may be a more brighter orange.

the other smaller details are the holes that i believe make out a "y" on the back. not sure if that is what other teams have added.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

When you look carefully at the second Knicks uniform from the top (Bill Bradley) notice how well defined the numeral is in blue. Of course the change to the Walt Frazier (orange trimmed in blue) evokes positive vibes, the current uniform font on the front appears washed out and as a result, less effective as an identification element. Note how well the blue "24" on Bradley's jersey reads. It is crisp as the extra pass from the corner to a streaking Dick Barnett.

All adidas needed was to match that font and graphic standard for the vintage home jersey. What prevented adidas from investing some serious design research in this Knicks renaissance that has mray20 so geeked?

You want soul? Compare the Bradley and Bernard King road blues to the blue of the Marbury edition. You want to signal a new era of Knicks basketball and leave the Marbury era in the past all in one bold stroke? You revert to the deeper midnight blue joint. Why else? The deeper blue matches the elegance of an early New York morning strolling down West Broadway past The Village Vanguard at 3AM.

You look good, you play good.
