After New York fell short in its pursuit of LeBron James and/or Dwyane Wade, it would be devastating for the Knicks to watch Anthony go to their cross-river rival -- especially since that rival is moving into the city limits to Brooklyn in two years. While Knicks president Donnie Walsh has been in far from panic mode, he has been "working every angle" in an effort to get back in the game with Anthony, according to a rival executive familiar with Walsh's approach. "He's the master," the executive said. "I'll put it this way: If there's any way to get something done that he feels good about, he'll get it done. He'll leave no stone unturned."

Missing out on LeCon, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony is not a big deal?

it would be if we didnt have a good young PG from a playoff team to go with a 5 time all star frontcount player and some bright young BIG althletic talent.

For you it was Lebron or bust. Everyone wanted him. Others understood that the deals still opened up other great possibilities to build the team. It worked

There are those that think this way. I suppose "Devistation" is determined from a particular point of view.

I thought plan "B" is pretty good actually. Solid and well thought out.

Never considered Dwayne really. I thought We could sign and trade Dlee for Bosh actually. Then sign Lebron.

Melo with Amare is not Lebron and Bosh. We don't hve the juice for CP3 trade. Even if so,

Lebron, Bosh Wade > Amare-Melo-Cp3

Maybe in 24 months Melo in Brooklyn will have a supporting cast to warrant devestation. Maybe in 24 months some good things happen here also.

Actually I think Melo to Brooklyn would make it a worthy rivalry. Beating the Nets by 30 pts every time they play is really no fun.

We COULD land CP3 in a trade next summer using the pieces we didn't trade to land Melo...

Yes, LBJ, Bosh, Wade > Amare, Melo, CP3

But that's only 3/5ths of a starting squad. I consider the overall roster after those 3 to be ok for Miami, and possibly excellent for the Knicks (e.g., AR, Mozgov, TD, Fields, et al), depending on how things shake out.

Nets will not move to Brooklyn for at least 36 Months. The 2 Years being bandied about is a smokescreen. Melo's knows this. He also knows that to spend 3 years in his prime in Newark is a career killer from a marketing standpoint. Just ask Carter or Kidd - great players but afterthoughts in terms of marketability on the Nets. Melo may accept the deal on the table and sign with the Nets - but not without major doubts of playing in Newark for most of his contract.

The only way Denver trades Anthony to the Knicks before the season is if we give up Gallo and Anthony. Those are really the only two young assets with have with the low contracts and star potential to entice Denver. I would rather hope Anthony passes on agreeing to NJ and wait for him this summer. Without our draft picks, we will need Anthony to help the bench.

That was the PG's doing. Kidd made them what they were, and the team declined as he aged...left... Hopefully our new guy is up to the task.

Definitely. They saw the success that Houston had in fleecing us on the T-Mac trade, and think that we would be so desperate again. Uh-uh. It's a new day, and are parts are more valuable then preceived position. We can wait on Anthony, and watch as our sprouts grow into trees.

the only thing that trade achieved was giving us the cap space to sign Felton, Mozgov & Mason while giving away Jordan Hill, swap rights to next year's pick & another 1st rounder... we already had the cap space to sign Amare to his contract & enough flexibility to get the D Lee trade done even if we hadn't made that trade.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

If Melo doesnt come its another epic disaster and total failure by Knick management to get the coveted 2nd all star. If we do get him he's fringe all star and a volume shooter who has made it out of round 1 once
