How will they end up after 82 games? (I can't believe we made the forum software with only 8 choices - my bad. I'll assume #1 seed is impossible.)
no playoffs
#2 seed
#3 seed
#4 seed
#5 seed
#6 seed
#7 seed
#8 seed

i picked the number the 5 seed. i just hope the bucks, raptors, celtics, don't have a major run during the rest of the season. this could be where the end up if they keep playing the way they are. that could set up a match-up with either the #4 nets or hornets barring major let downs. both mean a great match at the point.

now the question becomes, will the knicks be able to make run in the play-offs. the knicks are dominated by jump shooters(talented ones i might add), can that jump shot take them some-where in the play-offs. past nj. past no. past. the pistons. each team has a solid low-post play or a dominating big man.

i think the knicks can and should win often. #2 = passing all the Atlantic teams, that's it. NJ is the tops of the Atl. conf. right now at 21-17. we can catch them i think.

I'd figure between 2 and 4, so I selected 3rd.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I just voted for 4th seed (beating out the Hornets for HCA), but at 21-17, the Nets aren't a world ahead of the Knicks...

I think we can finish the season at 45-37, meaning we'd need to go 26-13 the rest of the way. (.667)

We don't have any excuses anymore. We can't talk about how our PG position needs an upgrade, nor can we blame our losses on the poor play of Eisley, nor our lack of swingman depth (now a strong position with Penny added) nor can we blame it on the mediocre coaching of Don Chaney.

what about lack of size, or depth at the PF/C position?

If our defense was better than Indiana , New Orleans, jersey or detroit I would have more hope. Wait until we play these teams before you guys start jocking. REMEMBER defense wins!

LOL!!! You change your mind more than Imelda Marcos changes shoes!

Now you are a defense guy? What happened to a running game and a motion offense being the most important?

OK, if defense wins, then what did Wilkens say was his number 1 objective? What did JVG do here and what is he doing in Houston?
NY has played better D in the last 3 games and it will get better as they get more time to learn how to play again after 2 years of absolutely NO coaching on defense! You notice that NY is playing very little of ANY zone now? HMMMM, Wilkens even ripped the ZONE against Dallas! He is another coach suited to coach a verteran team like NY!

Lack of size? We're starting 7'2" Mutombo, 6'9" Thomas, and 6'10" Van Horn. With the acquisition of Penny Hardaway (not to mention the old presence of Shandon), KVH can slide over to PF for stretches; 6'11" Doleac came into the season in great shape and has been playing well as a backup center.

While neither is truly 6'9", we're getting decent output from Harrington and are beginning to see some signs of production from Sweetney.

I'll venture to say that you might have a hard time finding a deeper frontcourt in the east than on the Knicks. Not including Sweetney, we have 5 guys who can play the PF/C positions.

Knicks: Mutombo, Thomas, Van Horn, Doleac, Harrington, Sweetney

Nets: Collins, Martin, Aaron Williams, Rodney Rogers; perhaps Griffin?

Detroit: Wallace, Okur, Campbell, Williamson, Rebraca, Prince?

Indiana: O'Neal, Foster, Harrington...Croshere, Pollard.

With the exception of Mutombo, most of our big men are solid medium range jump shooters.

As a whole, the strengths of the Knicks is our perimeter offense... and our interior defense. I liked our frontcourt depth with McDyess playing a quality 24 mpg... however, our improvements in the backcourt far outweigh his loss. I'm really beginning to like what Penny Hardaway brings to the table--- good ball handling, solid all-around play, and some post-up ability. His presence adds quite a bit of size to our backcourt, helping to plug up any deficiencies in our team. He makes an excellent (albeit waaaay overpaid) 6th man.
