Alan Hahn of Newsday updated the Barron situation on Tuesday, and wrote that the Knicks are not expected to bring him back as a fourth center.

Hahn reported that Barron was offered a non-guaranteed contract for 2010-11, but that he turned it down "mainly because he was hoping to get something more secure -- perhaps even from the Knicks -- during the offseason."

So far, Barron has yet to hook on with another team, though.

It was recently reported that Barron turned down an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv because he's confident he'll get an offer from an NBA team.

Dam. They couldnt even offer a 1 yr guaranteed minimum deal. They gave Jonathan Bender a deal.

you suggesting that just cause Knicks signed Bender, Barron should get a deal? One thing got nothing to do with the other.

The non guarenteed offer was made during the last season and done so it would not afect the cap space for this past FA period. Bender wasn't offered anything past his initial deal.

It's wierd, and it's not the first time it's happened- the last season he played with Miami (2007-08) he averaged about 7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 19 mins, which isn't amazing but should be enough for a 7ft player to get a contract in the nba, but no he didn't play again until Walsh called him up for the last few games of last season. Is he really 7ft? Is his agent the worst in the league?

pretty much... some guys wanted to lock him up to a 3 yr $9M contract after last season... dude has been a career scrub journeyman everywhere he's gone.... he should be happy to get any kind of offer at all.

Yes - folks are overrating Barron much like some did Mardy Collins a few years ago --- based on a few meaningless games where other teams weren't even playing us hard unless they needed a W.

Maybe Barron is trying to get his multi year deal with some security?

Problem with the current CBA is there is little money for guys like this.
