Billups Might Be A Trade Chip As Well
More Nuggets News

Aug 27, 2010 4:19 PM EST

John Hollinger of ESPN.com points out that the Nuggets could also shop point guard Chauncey Billups if Carmelo Anthony is indeed traded.

"Remember, if the Nuggets trade Melo and rebuild, there's really no point in them keeping Billups either. Could be two All-Stars on market," Hollinger wrote on his Twitter page.

Anthony told Denver this week that he wants to be dealt.

Yeah if they lose Melo that's it. Start over, get under the cap, stockpile draft picks and young players/expiring contracts. I would definitely unload a contract or 2 with Melo.

Denver is not going to get a all-star for Melo....they are gonna have to chose between getting over priced vets or developing young guys and picks. It's rough but this is what they are gonna have to deal with. Getting Gallo and Wilson Chandler via trade for Melo is fine...add future picks or maybe make it a 3-4 team trade to see if a team would throw draft picks their way.

Chancey and Melo have 2 years left on their current deals though. Melo has an early termination I believe...correct me if I'm wrong.

Keep in mind also that George Karl is ill and the front office is in shambles at the present moment....they need to repair everything and prep for the future.

Billups is the kind of leader on and off the court that D'Antoni needs. Walsh should at least check out what the Nuggets want for him.

A couple of year from now--one of these teams whether it be Cleveland Denver etc.. losing their stars will get a much better prize. I still think the foundation for winning starts with an elite big man and this guy will be the best young big man in well over a decade. You have to sck to be good again--no other way around it

Yeah and then a few years later, that prize player will be demanding a trade!

Or waiting until free agency, collaborating with two other players to join forces and then hold TWO press conferences to show that they are even wimpier than LeQueen.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

BRIGGS, we've scked for the past 10 years... it's time for us to be good again... this regime isn't going to focus on rebuilding a foundation, they're in win now mode at this point after the FA signings they just made this summer.

i don't understand how you can consistently hype up every future superstar you come across that are UNproven commodities & complain that we never are able to draft kids like that, & yet have so little willingness to make moves to go after guys that are already playing in the NBA & are proven superstar players... is that whole "homegrown" aspect that important to you? shouldn't the focus be on improving the team by any means necessary, homegrown player or not?

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Wow. I wonder how Chauncey feels. I thought he may have wanted to retire there.

i think they made a real bad play giving away camby when they did. especially a year ago when they could have gone camby-nene-anderson-martin-anthony upfront against la in the wcf.

Melo and Billups could be available? Things got more interesting. I agree with CrushAlot, lets hear an offer. As long as the future isn't heavily mortgaged for some long shot at taking the East, its worth a try.
