Roger Mason Maurice Ager notwithstanding Delonte West is much better than either of those players. I could care less what he did with LBJ and if he had some issues--well so do many other players--he just got caught. Signing him for the vet minimum would be a bench enhancement--and before anyone goes off--we used to take in reclamation projects with so-called problems all the time when we were good and never had a problem

i.e Sprewell Mason Starks Chris Childs etc.. these guys were all nice pieces for us. You just insert a no BS stance into his contract.

We had no BS coaches in Riley and Van Gundy then. Despite a much more lenient media policy, it seemed like most issues stayed in house and there was less drama. I don't think this would work with the current coach in place. Also, Delonte has diagnosed mental health issues. I don't think they are rehabilitated as much as treated. His talent may not be worth the trouble he might bring.

I remember the Pacers practically trading Harrington & Jackson for Troy Murphy & Mike Dunleavy just to get Jackson away from Granger.
They were hanging out on their off time and he was being a bad influence on Granger.

Why would we purposely bring in a malcontent like Delonte to a very young team with so much potential.
He is journeyman who does not really dominate any particular facet of the game.
He is not worth the risk.... I would pass.

That is the whole deal--I think we do have a mature coach and i want us to have that tough mentality that we want to win every game and play hard doping so. Were still relying on a very young guy iN Douglas--plus another who has declining skills in Mason. A very small risk for a solid reward> he's a very good % player when healthy with something to prove and in his prime. He was hurt last year but the previous he shot 40% from 3 and 45% over all with solid D passing+rebounding. He is 6-4 so he can play on and off the ball. The guy had some issues--so do many people in sports and in life. Doesnt mean he cant be a model guy here.

Briggy, YOur not off base for most of his issues but his "Desporado" act with the guns and his bipolar personality have been lockerroom issues that has been a distraction. His boffing Gloria is no big deal.

I hear he is not into jewish chicks so Amare is safe!

Are you kidding me? He has been diagnosed as a manic depressive. That's something you don't play with and you definitely take in to serious consideration when you have a good team. Don't need any idiots in the locker room ruining chemistry.

I think that this year the Knicks need to establish a professional culture. I like the smart young core that they have-- with the exception of Curry, there are really no problem players. I don't really want to add a headache. Maybe in a year or two we can adopt the philosophy that talent is worth the headache, but even then, Delonte West is not that good.
You know I gonna spin wit it

I would sign Delonte West before we play the Heat at the Garden so people can bring "Who's your daddy?" signs with Delonte West's picture on it to the Garden and chant obscene things to him.

Then we can have Delonte guard LeBron and psyche him out of the game. At which point we walk off the court victorious and then subsequently release Delonte West.

He has some serious mental health problems, and I don't mean that insultingly as I work with people with mental health problems, so i don't really think New York with all the media and pressure would be good for him. I think Boston is the best fit- they really need some defense at the SG since they lost Tony Allen, it might even rattle Lebron a bit when they face him, plus that team has the coach and veterans to help support him- he's much better for the Celtics than Rudy would be.

Anyways, don't count on us having Azubuike for the first few months of the season- he has only just started working out and hasn't been cleared for running and jumping yet- rushing him back is too risky anyways and he'll be rusty from not having played for over a year:

JR Smith, Lance Stephenson, Delonte West - how many scumbags are you going to suggest the Knicks target? Sans Eddy Curry, didn't we just clean out this roster of this type of player (person)?

The Knicks got rid of contracts but they didn't have anyone with the problems that the guys on your list have and D'Antoni had a tough time handling them. I think if you go with D'Antoni as coach you have to understand that the character component is very important and that he is not a guy that does well with guys that need to be mentored and held accountable.

The guy is a good player, but as mentioned is a scumbag. Right now we have a lot of character on this team. We have some veterans and hard working young guys. Not since Layden have we have good role models. The only difference now is these guys can play.

We are going to be good regardless of what ESPN and anyone else says. Good with the guys we got.

I agree..MDA has proving that he expects guys to work hard, get better, play smart and be professional, his theory....You get paid millions to do it, why should he have to baby sit.
