Well, those who were fretting as to why we hadn't yet signed Fields can now relax:

I wonder if it is a multi-year guaranteed contract.
Donnie is going to have to juggle these guys around to fit in Melo next offseason.

If you factor in Turiaf's contract and Chandler's cap hold we do not have a maximum salary slot available next offseason.
We need to get rid of Turiaf's contract in order to make it happen.

If Fields is signed to a guaranteed contract that extends beyond this season, we will be in an even bigger hole.

Not that I think signing fields is a bad thing. On the contrary, I think he will be a pretty good player.
I am just wondering how Walsh will make it work in the end considering we also have a 1st rounder next year along with Mozgov's 3 Million Team option.

It'll be interesting to see how the swingman minutes are divided - It should be a good battle.
Obviously Gallo & Chandler have the inside track on 32+mpg each, leaving an additional 32mpg available. There are also opportunities for both Gallo & Chandler to slide over and get some minutes at PF.

Good stuff.
Given the glowing scouting reports on Landry Fields' bball IQ, I wouldn't be too surprised if D'Antoni pushes Chandler to 6th man and gives Fields the token starting role, getting him ~15mpg from the get-go.

He has Gallo, Azubuike, Chandler, Walker and Mason ahead of him.

He seems like a great kid. He had a great interview tonight and is well spoken. With Azubuike hurt maybe he can sneak some minutes. If nothing else he seems like a very bright guy who will learn from the vets and benefit from the competition to get minutes.

He's been a pleasant surprise- a decent player and he seems to be a good guy.

I don't see why he can't be playing 20+ MPG in a rotations in a few years. If he can tighten up his D and become more consistent with his J he will be a contributor on this team at some point this season.
