The other "97 PGs comment" was over the top. Hope Felton reads this, uses it as motivation.

23. Raymond Felton(notes), New York Knicks (last year: 29th)

"Perhaps I underrated Felton's defense through the years, because he did look good last season. And he remains a sound finisher toward the end of quarters (don't underestimate that). There are about 97 other point guards, some retired, that I'd prefer running Mike D'Antoni's show in New York, but Felton will do in a pinch. And, yes, Knick fans, you're in a pinch. At least the pinch (and resultant squeeze) doesn't result in Chris Duhon(notes)."

I think Felton is better than that. Certainly better than Sessions. What was with every picture in that article having Ty Lawson be on the defensive end? Kind of a weird article.

was actually trying to figure out where he would rank today with my friend. Was thinking somewhere in 10-15 range. 23rd and having ramon sessions rated better is just stupid.

Watch once Bobcats miss the playoffs and Knicks win some games how some of these guys start to jump on the bandwagon.

This list is certainly fluid and subjective. I'd have Felton ranked somewhere between 15 and 20. But if John Wall blows up along with Darren Collison, steph curry and some of the other young bucks, than elton could drop. On the other hand, if some of the old farts like Kidd, Billups, Nash, Andre Miller and Baron Davis drop off some, Raymond could move up on the list. Then you have wildcards like Tyreke Evan, who I don't even consider to be a point guard; Gilbert Arenas, who is about a s predictable as a Kenny Powers fastball;Mo Williams and Devin Harris who could make strong pushes this coming season.

If you look at Assist to TOs in '09, Felton was ranked right around there. But then again DuDu was ranked 6th - so numbers don't matter.

If you look at his offensive numbers, they're not that special. But his ability to defend pushes him up levels. Felton is an average NBA point guard. But at least he's a legitmate scorer. After having to watch Howard Eisley, Chris Duhon and insane man formerly known as Stephon Marbury that's enough for me. Personally, I think Luke Ridnour would've been a better fit for the offense, but I understand the reasoning behind signing Felton. He can take us to the playoffs, but chances are we are going to need to upgrade his position if we want to be serious title contenders.

You don't need an All World PG in order to win a title! Felton is a solid upgrade over Duhon and more importantly he plugs a huge hole on this roster. This isn't Fantasy league or the All Star game. In a team concept A PG like Felton becomes better than stats suggest. We need a PG that can run the team and spearhead our defense. We need a fast and unselfish pass 1st PG that can penetrate and dish. Felton is great at all of those things. He's not the best shooter but he's not bad either.

With so much talent around him Felton doesn't have to play over his head to be successful. Just seeing how good the team looked when Duhon played well gives a clue to how much of an impact Felton can have just by being himself. He doesn't have to change what he's good at.

great article. Ramon Sessions (bench player on a 20 win team)? Louis Williams? Jameer Nelson?

Felton will be fine

Felton IMO has been held back by AWFUL surrounding talent early on and a coaching style that didn't fit his game. For a PG that can carve through a defense and make the right pass this is a style that will enhance those skills. I also think we got him at the right time! The discipline on both ends that LB demands is good for young PG's. You want to play fast but not careless.

Here he won't have to keep looking back at the bench cuz MDA let's his PG's play. Unlike wild and mistake prone Sergio, Felton will likely be under control. I also like that he improved his shooting. I think Felton can get between 8-10 dimes a game, keep pace high and really strengthen our perimeter D.
