a star must be able to lift his team on his shoulders and even tell them that "get out of my way, i'm taking over" has marbury really ever done that when it really counted inorder to be consisdered a star?
he was traded or draft day from mil to min. played with kg but didn't get along and also had a team getting knocked out of the first round. they started winning after he left. he averaged almost 18 and 8asts there. got traded to the nets and his team couldn't win. averaged 20 and 8asts. he called his teammates a bad supporting cast(van horn) the nets kept loosing till marb went on his way. the nets got kidd and the first season with the nets, they go to the finals. and it continued last year. he got traded to phoe. guys like amare and marion lifted that team to the playoffs last year along with steph but got bounced out in the first round. this year, his team in phoe started cold and they fired his coach. then got traded to the knicks and we get blown out by the lowly cavs on the first game of his arrival. we get blown out again but this time on the garden floor, he gets completely out played by the franchise. we get a win barely against the bucks and proceed to loose in the next one to the mavs. he might have had a great night(38 14 asts) but just couldn't lift his team when it really counted. he got beat by steve nash who did step up for his team and lifted them to victory. we beat the lowly magic. we beat the sonics where he collects 17 asts. but only scores 8 pts. and last night, we beat the lowly bulls where he only scores 18 and 8 asts.
don't take me the wrong way, he's only 26, he has got a long way to go in his career. i hope he gets better and better. he's not yet a super-star but i hope he becomes that with the knicks

Great assessement, some people see every thing oneway. We all know marbury is a strong quick point guard, but he has "YET" to prove he can lift a team in games against a competent pg.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

marbury is a star, and if we use your argument then you must question KG also.

first of all, kg has been in min. all of his career. they want him there alright. kg gave up money for his team to get better. kg plays as hard as anyone has ever played in the history of the nba. kg is also a dominating big man. he has become a leader who calls his teammates out after a loss. kg has a great supporting staff now, not a hot headed, selfish player that steph was. and i could unquestionably say that they will advance to the next round this year.
right now, most of the teams that are doing well, have a dominating big man are doing well, not the teams with the AIs, the carters, the t-macs. hell, steph came from a team who had to fire their coach for the lack of leadership, the lack of carrying the team, that steph was expected to do. one the big man(amare) went down, even steph couldn't save them.
i didn't say if he was or wasn't going to lead the knicks to its old winning ways, i just reminded you where he came from. he must lead the knicks to something great in-order for me to consider him a star. i hope he does becuase i'm a very optimistic knicks fan.

So Jordan who never been to the cahmpionshiop in his early years should not have been able to take the Bulls there? Shaq and Kobe too right? Cause they were never there before. For one goddamn time think what you are saying, all players who win the title or to to the finals for the first time HAVE NOT BEEN THERE BEFORE BECAUSE IT IS THERE FIRST FREAKING TIME DOING IT!!!

kg did give up money, how the hell else do you think they got spree and sam in their team. he helped by restructuring his contract just enought for them to be able to sign a great supporting cast like spree and sam. if he hadn't done that, they would probably have the highest payroll in the nba, which i don't think they do. not even close to the top team, our knicks

In the NBA you can't restructure an existing contract.

What the hell are you talking about? KG is a MAX player with an enermous and long contract. The resaon Wolves had cap is because he was the ONLY contract on the team. Could you grasp a very simple concept please and stop being annoyin Garnett DOES NOT help his team in some magical way financially, he just helps them by being Garnett, once again, his contract was not "restructed", you can't even do that, and he does not pay anybody on theam out of his pocket. He has nothing to do with the money any other player is getting paid. Get it?
P.S. Just to avoid confusing you, Cassel was traded not signed onto that team, so don't come back with how they signed 2 big FA's in Kandi and Cassel, even that would not change anything, but that's what you'll try to do lol.

you are an idiot so shut the f-up. and just true to follow the original thread dummy. i was trying to help out some poor guy called"tks". i might get some things wrong, but i sure didn't talk **** about you.
btw, if you are true nba fan, you would have watched the wolves blazers game and the kevin harlne, doug collins interview after the game, in which they praised kg for the fact that he helped the wolves financially. weather they were making it up right on tv along with kg, i don't know about.
get that trough your hard head, smart ass
