Kelenna Azubuike has a goal: Just play.

The Knicks’ newly acquired fifth-year guard out of Kentucky, who was part of the sign-and-trade deal that sent David Lee to the Golden State Warriors last month, is ready to play now.

“I’m really excited. I’m really anxious right now [to play],” Azubuike said after taking part in an autograph session with children at the Knicks Summer Basketball Camp at Brearley Field House in Manhattan Thursday. “That’s my focus right now, just to be able to get back on the court right now.”

Azubuike played in just nine games last season because of a knee injury.

“After missing last season, I’m just excited to get a chance to start playing again,” he said.

Azubuike was a productive player for Golden State. He averaged a career-high 14.4 points per game and shot 45 percent from three-point range in 2008-2009. After playing in an untempo offense under Warriors coach Don Nelson, it stands to reason Azubuike could thrive playing in Mike D’Antoni’s free-flowing scheme.

“[D’Antoni] likes to run and he fits what I like to do ... shoot threes and play a fast-paced game,” Azubuike said.
The 6-5 guard averaged 13.9 points on 54-percent shooting last season before being sidelined with the knee injury.
With Amar’e Stoudemire in the paint and a quality point guard in Raymond Felton running the offense, Azubuike thinks the Knicks could be in store for some big moments.

“This is a chance to turn the page with the Knicks and really try to make some noise this year,” Azubuike said. “We have the guys on the team to do it ... It’s all about just putting it together.”

I know your joking but, I think that needs to be responded to because I have seen others post similar comments a few times. Get back at us how, by dropping a triple double on us....(hasn't he done that already.) He gonna drop 60 on us...wait, Kobe did that already. There is NOTHING he can do on the court that worries me because, no matter how good (or bad) he plays, it still only counts as 1Win.
