genius!
of course, some of us could hare added a more in depth piece of history in that isiah and jordan have not gotten along since the bulls-pistons played each other in the playoffs, which also led to speculation as to why isiah was kept off the dream team in 1992.
anyway, the reporting is getting more ridiculous by the day.
pres, i'm not going to argue about the quality of sports reporting.
but . . . . we all remember the stories - true or not - about stern forcing dolan to hire walsh and relieve isiah of his duties. if true, we can imagine the ego blow that was to little jimmy, and how he would just love to reassert his power buy . . . hmmm, maybe reinstating isiah? so if there's even a whiff of this in the air, why not have the people speak now and set up a groundswell that might help head off this move before it can start?
i hear you, marv, but putting isiah back in charge sounds so implausible, even for dolan. you must have read beck's times blog post on the story.
where is the actual indication that there is a good chance it will happen? he's at best, 7th, in terms of control.
again, isn't it possible that this is partially about dolan reasserting himself as in control in other ways besides the idea that isiah will be back in charge. like, say, dolan may be cool with isiah, but he also wants him to earn all the money paid to him.
i've written this point on this forum at least three times to sfx: crickets...from the posters who repeatedly claim this is a conspiracy with the end result being isiah back in charge.
beck confirmed that isiah was never off the payroll, so why is this such a big deal other than based on fears and speculation?
it's like we're battered wives or something...we need a little perspective, i believe.
i also said i believe they announced this because it would be far worse for that info to come out through a "source" to isola or berman who would make this even worse than it already is. doesn't that make some sense?
can we also not recall that dolan made isiah be the coach after spending big bucks on brown, lenny and the roster?
again, more of the "you broke it, you own it" idea
given that history, it could also be an example of dolan forcing isiah to earn the huge sum of money he is getting...still...since he is still under contract.
plus, for all the hate isiah deservedly receives, some fans and non-knick fans with zero invested in hating isiah, will admit that isiah did show some skill in scouting late in the draft, where we expect to be this year, and in the foreseeable future.
i have read more than one person here say if isiah was just a scout, they'd be fine with it.
well, that's what the statement of his job description was in the press release.
why do we automatically have to assume it's a lie? what the heck would dolan stand to gain by hiding the plan to put isiah back in charge? a little ego boost? he would be ridiculed even more.
