Will remain as coach of FIU.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

If this had to happen why wasn't it kept behind the scenes. I think he was functioning in this capacity anyway.

100% against this move. I was hoping to move on from that era.

Isiah Thomas has been named a consultant to the New York Knicks, it was announced today in a joint statement by Knicks President Donnie Walsh and MSG Chairman James L. Dolan. In this role, Mr. Thomas will assist the team’s senior management in various capacities, including player recruitment.

“Isiah Thomas brings unique experience as a Hall of Fame player, coach, executive and owner, and we believe having him as part of our organization will be extremely beneficial to the team’s success. Isiah was helpful to the team’s senior management during our most recent recruitment efforts, including assisting with the acquisition of Amar’e Stoudemire. He will provide valuable insight and analysis of young prospects from around the world. Isiah will remain head coach of FIU, and that will continue to be his primary responsibility.”

“I’m excited to once again be a part of the New York Knicks organization. I was honored to have been asked to help during the recent free agent recruiting process, and believe that this new role takes full advantage of my skill set as an evaluator of basketball talent. While I will of course continue in my role as FIU’s coach, I look forward to working with Donnie, Coach D’Antoni and all of the Knicks staff to help bring a championship back to New York,” said Mr. Thomas.

To be honest, I really don't have a problem with this. Let bygones be bygones. He's misguided as a GM, but he can provide some help with player recruitment.

Sorry, but I actually support this move... as long as it does not lead to Isiah eventually becoming GM again. That was a failed experiment that should not be repeated.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

It's Friday and I'm getting a week off from work. I won't let this bother me. I'll ignore this and pretend he's not even here.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. He was never really gone in the 1st place. He was working for the team all the time up until he got his new job and if that was the case I fully expected they would call on him for his advice. He wasn't up to the task of being a GM, but he was very good as a scout and talent evaluator, plus players like him for the most part. His tenure was full of embarrassment, but so has Dolan's and he's still here!

I look past this kind of stuff and just concentrate on the team itself.

That would be a PR disaster of epic proportions if Little Jimmy brought him back - and it widely known he fears the media.

Yes, but the Knicks have done plenty of foolish things in the past. I put nothing past them.

If they hire him to succeed Walsh...i might have to quit the Knicks till he's fired again.

As a scout for the draft..I got no problems with him. Just don't let him within a 10 square mile radius of the salary cap..please.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I really am not that bothered by this. Thomas was a terrible GM as far as managing the cap and making wise trades, but he was decent as a talent evaluator and to extent players do listen to him, he might be good in the role as a consultant. Obviously, Dolan still loves him, and Walsh is at least willing to listen to him, so as long as MDA is on board, this really should not have much of an impact for the Knicks.

I do agree that this may be Dolan's way of saying "F___ all of you guys, I like Thomas and will bring him back no matter what you think." But if that is the case, who cares. Its Dolan's money. If he wants to pay Thomas to be a glorified scout and recruiter, I think Thomas can handle that.

Trust the Process
