Last time I was unemployed, I was collecting severance and unemployment at the same time. I did feel a little guilty about that at first. I told the unemployment people I had 6 months of severance coming, and wouldn't it make more sense for the unemployment to start after that ran out if I was still looking for work, and they told me that's not how it works. Have to start unemployment right away. Stupid enough to cure me of any guilt.

Sad news is, that the recent extension only covers most until nov. So if you just got on umemployment now, all you will get is the 26 weeks, all of those tiers 1-4 won't be available and the republicans will kill not to give out anymore extensions. sad, but true... So if your 26 weeks don't end before the NOV cutoff, you won't be eligible for any more extensions. there are going to be so many people come november who will have no money comming in.. very , very sad...

the rebplicans fought this last extension to the damn death. LOL.. very sad, but believe me, people are taking names and they will be looking to vote them out of office.. go to open congress.com, you can track bills, how each senator votes.. very interesting.. for those who just got on unemployment now. they missed the boat when it comes to all of the extensions obama signed over the past two years. once their 26 weeks is up, ( if it ends after nov 30) they will be SOL.. no extensions.... the republicans will stand strong as hell on this one.. the two republicans that voted with the democrats to give th extension probably won't vote for it again... and the dems just had enough votes (60) to get the bill passed...

I hope people find jobs soon..

Honestly, no.

Good to hear--life is way to short to waste. Unemployment Comp is there for the right reasons and should be. Id rather have the mentality that I can make 1900 in a week or a day etc... and that I will go find that avenue because it won't come to me if Im sitting on my arse.
