I don't know how I feel about this. Larry is one of my all-time favorite Knicks. Chicago?

I wish we'd offer him an assistant coaching post- one of the things I liked about Donnie when he started was that he reached out to popular former Knicks, giving jobs to Starks, and Allan Houston- not only do I like to see these players rewarded after their playing days are over, but it is also good for current players to see the franchise taking care of it's most popular players

Larry won't be playing for us.

Im sure this is just a way for Thibs to get LJ's name in the paper and let the world know he is still out there and wants somthing to do.

You need interviews and get the word out. Thats how it works.

Having him here does nothing other than invoke memories.

IM sure we'll hit a dry patch this year and the yearning for "Oak" and now "LJ" will start thinking they have some magic way to inspire players to play better defense because once upon a time they were able to kick ass.

We are way beyond this. Larry was a great knick and I wish him well.

I've really grown to dislike Herb Williams. The guy is just useless. Will he EVER just go away?

Herb Williams is the so-called big man coach. Has any big man on the Knicks ever improved under Herb's coaching?

I understand what you're saying, but I think LJ could be a good assistant coach- he was a smart player and he was known as a great leader and teammate, so he might be good at getting through to players. I'd never give Oakley a job with the Knicks now though as I don't really see what he'd be good at. Although nostalgia can be pointless, I do think if a former player of the team has some potential to contribute in a different job after their playing days are over, then it's nice to reward them by giving them that chance and it sets a good example to other players on the team now.

Thibodeau is looking to hire a former NBA player for the coaching staff after deciding not to retain Pete Myers, who is expected to stay with the Bulls in another capacity.

I don't know how I feel about this. Larry is one of my all-time favorite Knicks. Chicago?

He wants to get into coaching so he has to go where the jobs are. It's not like we're offering him a job, although I would like him to replace Herb.

Because I don't think is that good of a coach. He's been here for years and I don't think any big man we've had has improved under his tutelage. Granted we haven't has a ton of bigs, but the ones we have had don't develop. Not to mention, when he had the chance to be HC he didn't exactly do a good job. I'm not placing all of the blame on him. The players had a part in it too, but I think its time to get someone new.

I'd also be all for change for the sake of change- but I think Herb did a good job with Lee, and I thought he actually did a very good job when he was a filling in as HC- because when you think about some of the guys that came after and had very similar pieces to work with, he actually did ok and had guys competing- and that is what you want a coach to do.
