Donnie said the Knicks are in the market for a jumpshooting big man...this Guy sticks out to me. The jazz is in negotiations with restricted free agent European dude they had in the playoffs. Sloan likes to have goons at center and with Jefferson and milsap they could afford to lose memhet. They could use a small fwd and the knicks have plenty...

What y'all think?

I think you make a good point. D'Antoni doesn't play big men because he believes they slow down the game. Okur is an acomplished center and I don't think Utah would give him up. If they did I think they would get a lot for him.

Okur is a perimeter player. I don't think he'd slow the game up. Hed be a trailer and spread the defense with his jumper. I think he'd legitimize the team as a contender in the east.

What would it take to get him? I don't see Utah wanting Eddy Curry.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Well I think with al Jefferson there he can actually play center with milsap at the 4. Plus they got that goony 7footer they had in the playoffs. They are set....Eddy curry would save them money. Adding another player like Chandler or maybe another Guy could appeal to them.

From the Knicks standpoint, Amar'e, Gallo, okur, Felton, Shannon brown? Wow. Plus the bench of whoever is left? Knicks would be tough

Yes he did. Suffered the injury back in April and had surgery to repair it soon after. Now he's recovering. No idea how that's going...So there's that along with a hefty price tag (something like $9M and change this year, over $10M next year). There's no way we take on that kind of money -- it would officially eliminate us from next year's free agency where with a little cap maneuvering, we might be able to add a max player. I don't think we can jeopordize that for Mehmet Okur. I tell ya what though, adding a player with his skills makes you think a little -- Okur outside, Amar'e inside flanked by do-it-all Anthony Randolph along with the rest of the team (Felton, Gallo, etc.)..Makes some sense on paper in terms of fit when you think about it. Too bad he's coming off injury and the contract isn't favorable. It's not even the injury so much -- he'll be back doing what he does.. It's that contract. If he was on the final year of his deal maybe he would've been worth rolling the dice on..

Not improving the team while the Knicks wait for superstar players to become free agents is irresponsible. Lebron was one thing but waiting for Carmelo, Tony Parker or Chris Paul when they already have Felton, Gallo, and Anthony Randolph is poisonous.

When do the knicks try to win? 2014? Its not nba live...teams have to develop chemistry...I'm not for trading everyone for 2 guys just because Miami did it.

Okur is only an average center coming off a major injury. Why trade for that guy when we really have no idea where this team is at. We have 2 or 3 center prospects already. I say, be patient and wait until next summer (or at least until January) before making any moves.

Okur would be a nice addition, but how much do you sacrifice for his skills with damaging your flexibilty. He's a ? mark at this point.

Personally I don't think he's worth his contract.
How many years left does he have?

Injury, contract, flexibility and uncertainty of the roster all play a part in everything. Okur makes less than Curry so it's a trade that would be more complicated than it should be...

Aside from that, I think the Knicks future is more important than waiting and hoping another teams all star to jump ship. Especially players that would shake up the team as much as these names would.
