So I am getting ready to move back to NY - heading to Brooklyn. I called Time Warner to set up my cable and Internet and they say they can't do it because the apartment is in a historic building and they can't drill holes in the wall. 2 other apartments in the building have cable - this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Anyone have experience with this?

Do they know other people in your building have cable? Maybe they think they need to bring a cable into the building, in which case they might like to drill a hole in the front of the building, which could be an issue from a preservation standpoint. But I don't think this would be an issue with wiring that is completely inside.

Unfortunately they are aware the other 2 units have cable but have this one listed as not being wired so they won't touch it. They wouldn't send anyone over and I couldn't get much out of them. My landlord is calling tomorrow so hopefully he will make some progress.

That sucks. Is Verizon FIOS available in your area?

I don't think there will be a problem unless somebody wants to make a problem, ... If they really want to make a problem, they're going to have to make a decision about how they want to spend their adult life in terms of playing in the NBA or not.

Unfortunately FIOS isn't available where I am moving - yet.

My landlord called Time Warner and supposedly straightened them out - they called me and booked an appointment for next Wednesday to set everything up so I should be in good shape. Hopefully the come through, these is already cable in the building so I am not really sure what the holdup was.
