I read the title as "getting laid is horrible" and I was wondering if you went crazy on us.

That sucks man. I really hope you can find something quickly.

Might be a good time to do independent projects or freelance work. Good luck getting everything going again. Stressful and tough, but you can emerge much stronger (financially and confidence-wise) as a result of going through it.

Much respect to you for choosing the noblest part of that profession. Like teachers, you public defenders sacrifice for a social good that is imperative to a functioning, democratic society. Without you, it would be much starker than it is.

Sorry to hear that bro, I am currently in the same boat. My last contract ended in May. Yes the economy sucks, but there's stuff out there. In my field (IT Project Management - Financial Services) the current wisdom is you get something to keep you head above water then bail at the first real opportunity.

Yea same thing went down with me. Was actually happy at first because it was miserable because I had already survived a few rounds of layoffs and the place wasn't that fun to work at any more. But then I felt that ego sting. Like getting dumped by a girl who you wanted to dump anyway but she beat you to it.

So I've just been keeping the costs low, working out & trying to eat right (helps when you gotta be cheap... rice & beans and fruit cart stuff baby! Just splurge on a bottle of good hot sauce and some canned fish handy ;)

Been doing freelance in a totally different field and enjoying the summer, luckily I had saved up some loot for a rainy day (or a heatwave). Make sure you get COBRA insurance if you can, 'coz the last thing you wanna do is worry about your health too.

Good luck homie!

Sorry to hear that, Cash. I can feel your pain. I got laid off last November, but luckily I was only unemployed two months. Sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise, though. There are definitely opportunities out there, but it will probably take some vigilance to find the right one. Just hang in there and get some good contacts and see what else you can find. Best of luck.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The thing about COBRA is it can be really expensive (Mine was over $1200 a month for 3 people!). You may have better luck paying for a HSA plan outright.

I hear you bro - I graduated bschool in may of 2009 and went to work as a courier. Luckily I got a job in bankruptcy consulting but I am a contractor so I could be done any day. My project has been going on for almost a year and it's starting to wind down so I gotta get a move on.

Good luck, be persistent and you will find something. Don't be afraid to do an hourly job to keep your sanity and do something with yourself while you look. Employers like that.
