That's a shame. I feel bad for him. I know he wanted to play and it's an honor he deserves but honestly as a Knick fan, I gotta admit, I'm a little relieved..I want him fresh, healthy and ready to go for us right outta the gate...Very similar to how I felt about Robbie Cano declining participation in this year's HR derby -- I felt that was the right decision for Cano (I wasn't crazy about Swisher participating as well -- thank God he hasn't suffer any negative effects)..That event has be known to screw up player's swings and Cano is way to valauable to the Yanks (not to mention the guy's chasing a batting title, possibly the triple crown)...A slightly different situation but similar...If true, I'm sure it'll sting for awhile but hopefully Amar'e gets over this quick and realizes that it's probably in his best interest..He's got bigger fish to fry.

I think 20mm$ a year + endorsements will soothe the wound

I hope he doesn't go. I'd rather he stay home and work on his game with the other Knicks.

Yup.

Better that he does not go- why take chances competing in what is, to me, a meaningless event.

Yup. Hopefully it'll make him mad to the point where he's ready to come out and start punishing people hard in a Knicks uniform right from day 1.

I'm relieved. I was worried he'd be injured.

I remember in the 2008 Olmympics a lot of guys who played were battling injuries in the early part of the season and some for longer. I think it's better for him not to play.

I remember exactly the same thing. 82 games is a stupid long season. Wear and tear is an issue. Key to the season are a healthy Felton/Amare combo. After that its the continued development of Chandler/AR/Gallo/Douglas. After that the gravy is what you get from Turiaf, Azu, Drago.

Yeah, Amare should pass. We just gave you $100 mil. You are too brittle to go play for TEam USA. Go rest your body over the summer.

We'll let him play next time around toward the tail end of his contract.

Anyone have an idea about how Amare is, or will, take this? Should it even be a concern?

Jeff Zillgitt

New Warriors F David Lee hurt a finger at Team USA's practice Tuesday. He will have it evaluated but it is not believed to be serious.

I was just thinking the same thing. I just hope Amar'e doesn't wind up resenting the Knicks over this..I mean that's all we need..I know he really wants to play and it looks like it was left up to the Knicks. Granted, having the opportunity to play for your country is a pretty big deal, but in this instance, the Knicks just can't afford that type of risk. He's too important to the franchise. I'm confident they'll explain this to him properly and also that he'll understand. As he's been saying in all his recent interviews, he's 27-28 years old now, not 19 anymore. Shouldn't be an issue. I hope not anyway.
