It sounded like he flaked out. He told the team that he was going to be late for the start of summer league due personal issues and he was told, more or less, to not bother showing up.
Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.
