Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to New Orleans being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

again you are getting the best pg in the game right now. as far as okafor, he is still an all star center who can run and play defense. the bad news is that we will not have room for melo so i am hesitant but if melo signs his extension you might have to consider it.

If Paul and Okafor are healthy you do it.

If Okafor isn't but Paul is - you still have to consider it. You're talking about THE BEST PG in the game and pairing him with arguably one of the BEST PF in the game.

You have to like the idea of teaming up two top players.

However, dealing Felton isn't possible for quite some time. December 15th I believe.

That deal also leaves us with "just" Chris Paul at the point. I hope nobody gets delusions of grandeur regarding Andy Rottens with trade ideas like this.

Not interested in that deal. Rather have Felton and Melo next year and bring in another piece/sharpshooter with Curry's expiring contract.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

Well, Curry's contract is key to Melo. If we recycle Curry we probably can't get Melo.

So generally it's: Amare-Felton-Melo

or

Amare-Okafor-Paul

I don't believe we have wiggle room otherwise.

The more I think about it... I would prefer Amare-Felton-Melo.

Yet, if Paul is available today, and he is healthy, then you get him. You don't pass up Chris Paul without knowing Melo's true intentions. What if you could get Paul, but pass on him, and then Melo passes on us?

Suddenly the superstar player market is GONE.

We can't afford to risk that at this point.

The physicality of Felton and Amare on the offensive end could be a sight to behold. Personally, I'm looking forward to it and am not looking to flip Felton before we increase his value.

The guy is going to be on a cheap, short deal and will average 20 and 10 in this system, so why would you even think about trading him now?

That's without even getting into the value of Randolph and what his upside is.

Douglas is a small shooting guard and has no real value for us or anyone else. He's just a piece. Nothing special and the way he's run the Summer League team has been disgusting for someone who's trying to become a point. I would move him for any GM who valued him more than that. Could we trade him for Maynor? Terrico White? Whiteside? I'd want to find out if I was Donnie.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If you told me that you can keep Gallo and Chandler and add CP3 I would tell you to pull the trigger on that deal in a heart beat. That would give you a starting lineup of:

CP3 pg
Chandler sg
Okafor/Mozgov/Barron c
Gallo sf
Amare pf

Don't know Melo's intentions and if he wants to be with the Knicks you always have Gallo and Chandler to deal who I hope are ready for big time year.

You will probably be lucky to get 12-7 out of Felton.

So Felton's not going to put up better numbers than Duhon?

I think once the season starts people will start respecting Anthony Randolph's game allot more.

As far as I'm concerned, AR & Gallo are untouchable.

I think you need to focus on Melo before Chris Paul. Paul having 1 more year on his contract and Melo being a free agent this year-- I wouldn't do anything that jeopardized the ability to get Melo next year, especially since there is the sincere possibility of having room for both without any trades. So, I can't condone taking back a bad contract to get Chris Paul unless you already have Melo on the roster. I think 1 year of development for Gallo and Randolph will be great, and I would let Felton run the ship for this year-- his value can only increase, especially since it is a great contract. Around February, I would consider moving a package containing some combination of Curry, Chandler, Azubuike and/or Turiaf for Melo and once that is in place, if Paul is truly available I would make Felton and pretty much anyone other players for Paul... though as much as I didn't want Felton at signing, I'd like to give him his shot...

You will probably be lucky to get 12-7 out of Felton.

Hes going to get 7 from pick and rolls with Amare alone.

I'd rather see Paul play close to a full season before trying to deal for him. I also would like
to see how Felton does in this offense, he may surprise us. I agree that there is also Melo to
consider.

Randolph seems tailor made for SSOL and he plays D. I want to see how things shake out first before any more deals are made but the prospect of having Paul in a Knicks uniform is definitely intriguing.

I want them to play together for at least a year- maybe by then folks will realize that you just don't want to break up what might end up being one of the best pair of forwards in the league.

I'm thinking of 15+PPG, 8/9 APG from Felton, and much better perimeter D (Not saying much, though- Donnie in his wheelchair could do a better job staying in front of someone than Duhon).

If everything on the team is clicking perfectly, bump up Felton's APG a bit.
