He is saying all the right things on Knicks night and he produces on the court.

I thought he played great when he was with the Lakers- he is that gritty, no nonsense winning type role player.

And he might be the one player who sort of emerges as a leader.

If healthy he will give us toughness on the court, and you expect that he will be great on the bench and in the locker room. Add to that the fact that he has played with Randolph.

Loved getting Randolph in the deal, and he is the centerpiece of the trade, but Turiaf and Azubuike were also great additions, and if they are able to remain healthy they will make more of a difference to the team than some anticipated.

Not exactly what I meant by "great on the bench," by the way.

Hope I don't have to see too much of that this year- I'm too old school for that stuff.

Turiaf automatically becomes the Enforcer on the team. This is pre-leg injury

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I agree, we need an emotional veteran to motivate this team. Too many players on the Knicks are emotionally complacent and will put their head down (or cover it with a towel) when losing. We need an emotional backbone to this team, and it looks like Turiaf could be that guy just like Sprewell and Camby were back in 1998. Someone to set the example of no BS hard-nosed ball who has been apart of winning situations before.

A Good Role Player and that is what we need. 20 min off the bench to play tough, enthusiastic basketball and motivate by example.

I agree. I'm not saying we don't need players like him.

I just said he's a career role player.

I think of him more like a Udonis Haslem. A blue collar big man that comes to work every night. He puts the time and effort in and keeps his mouth shut. Good value at $4M. I think he is a better defender and passer than Haslem though.
You know I gonna spin wit it

You're correct. He has been a role player so far in his career. Now, he should be at his peak - 5 years in the league. Playing with scorers like Amar'e, Gallo, Randolph, and a good PG, Felton, we will see if he can step it up a notch. Turiaf is a good defensive presence in the middle.

right, Turiaf is just a role player... u can only get so much "leadership" from role players, you need your top players to take on that mantle... Amare or Felton need to be the guys to step up & hold everyone else accountable, & that starts with setting the example themselves... this needs to happen in practice, during games, in the lockerroom & off the court.

I think he's a more than serviceable role player. Adonal Foyle with even more talent..Could have the impact Kendrick Perkins has for the Celtics if given the minutes & responsibility.

His career numbers are 5.5 PPG and 3.9 RBG.

I'm curious to know what information you gathered which made you come to your asessment regarding Turiaf being MORE than a serviceable role player.

Over the last few seasons the Knicks have had so called leaders who talked a great game
but did very little if anything to contribute to what very little success the Knicks have had.
If Turiaf or anyone else can't lead by example then he is no leader in my book. I hope Turiaf
or anyone else who wants to be a leader walks it like he talks it.

Yea I hear ya man. Josh Powell was pretty inspirational in the Lakers locker room. I think Jack Haley was pretty vocal on that Bulls team lead by Jordan in the 90s.

But comon, are we really going to dub these guys as leaders?

Yup, Amare seems to want to be the man, and Felton as starting PG could also be a leader if he
keeps everyone on the same page.

Turiaf seems like a leader
