The ongoing legal woes of multimillionaire NBA basketball star Eddy Curry just got worse.
Sneed is told Cook County sheriff's deputies are now actively looking to arrest the New York Knicks center and dispatched a marked squad car to Curry's Burr Ridge home Wednesday morning.
"He wasn't there," said a source. "A car was in the driveway, but no one answered the door."
At issue is a personal injury lawsuit filed against him. The lawsuit is under seal.
A week ago, a Cook County judge issued a warrant for Curry's arrest, stemming from his failure to comply with orders in a civil case.
"For a week, sheriff's staff have been attempting to do that, expecting Curry to show up with his attorney and the required $150,000 cash bond he needs to remain free pending the next court hearing."
• The upshot: Deputies will now question Curry's family, friends and his associates about his whereabouts and make return trips to his home.
• The buckshot: The Harvey native and onetime Bull may be staying in New York, the source added. "If that's the case, he can't be extradited, because the warrant stems from a civil case."
