He is due up for an extension, yet we are still trying to keep our capspace. Is this something that concerns other people or is it just me?

Because of this alone, I feel that the Knicks see him as trade bait, for a young player, hopefully a shooting guard.

See who shines more this season..Azubuike or Chandler.

Last offseason Chandler was injured and thus couldn't work on his game.

If he comes in this season and doesn't improve

a) do you want to resign him?

b) how much is he worth at his current skill level, youth factored in?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

i think it's just you. They will prob deal with him the same as Lee/Nate. He is under contract this year. His qualifying year is for 2011-12, which they may give him a small bump. After that you wait and see. It's 2 years away.

His qualifying year is next Summer.

He will become a trade chip this year. Hopefully he plays well and we can move him for a piece we need or for pick in 2012. There's also always a slim chance we can pry Rubio from the Wolves using Wilson.

Here you have a player coming into his own and you guys are talking trade. Wilson is going to have a monster year. Last year he didn't get to work on his game during summer and still improved. As the starting sg he averaged 17 ppg and 5.6 rebs and 2.1 rebs. Why are we so quick to drop talent and good talent that plays both ends of the floor. He has already started to workout from his surgeries and the sky is the limit for Chandler remember he is only 23. I give him a contract because he deserves a contract.

I have a feeling he's about to be traded to Portland for Rudy and a 1st round pick.

I have to agree that we need to hold on to Wilson. Not only is he so young and has improved each year, he's probably our best defender.

I think if the knicks trade him for a true shooting guard like Rudy Fernandez, it wouldn't be enough value. Maybe getting a guy like Batum also in the deal, may sway me.

As of now, I'm ready to go to war with the team we have right now.

What are they trying to do build a team that the UN can be proud of.

The Knicks need to keep Chandler. He is only 23, the same age or younger than some of the guys that were drafted and just brought in. I am not sure why you chase a guy with potential over a 23 year old who is already established, and averaged 15 and 6 in a year when he started the season off coming back from an injury.

to be honest - now that we have Azabuke (hopefully, he's healthy) I think Rudy Fits much better with this team. I'd pull the trigger on that in a second. Plus his contract is very good as well. Team option next year and QO the following year.

I love Will but I don't know if he has the bball IQ/aggressiveness to make the leap to the next level. I think Rudy would fit very well in this system and give us that pure shooter 2G that we need.

Rudy is not that good. Over hyped player at best. Chandler is getting better and better. Why would you give up on a 23 year old that has pretty much proven to be capable of doing so much and at the same time has a work ethic that fans an be proud of.

Don't do anything w Wilson- he's getting better every year - if he does well this year it could help us S&T for Carmelo anyway-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I tend to agree. Let's see what kind of year he gives us. He seemed to understand his limitations more last year, and looked for his midrange shot and attacked the basket more often than in his previous year. Don't know what will happen to his playing time now that we have Azubuike and Randolph, but who knows how the lineup will shake out by mid-season.

Wilson's only issue is that he just seems to have a brittle body in terms of injuries.

I'd trade Wilson for Rudy. But I'd want more than just him from Portland.

considering we just drafted a similar style player & traded for another that fills his role next season, i think he's going to be traded... if that happens, i hope it's for a young talent like Collison, or at least a 1st round pick next June... i don't wanna see him dumped just to unload Eddy Curry's contract because we're going all in for Melo in 2011.

At this point, I don't think it really matters if we keep Curry or not. He's done after this coming season, so I don't see the point in "dumping" him now.

However, you're right, if you can get a guy like Collison or another very promising player for Chandler, then we are in great shape. As I said before, I personally prefer a young shooting guard, or at least a draft pick. If 'Melo signs that extension though, then I don't mind keeping Will the Thrill.

i don't even mind trading him to land a guy like Tony Parker (part of a package obviously)... at least you're getting back something tangible... i'll deal with fatass' contract on the books for the rest of the season if i have to... can't throw away any more young players or draft picks unless we're getting an actual PLAYER we want back in return.

I agree. Chandler is a valuable asset who we should either keep and let him continue to develop or include him in a package that can land us Melo or a legit starter that can impact the team.

How are we going to address the Wilson Chandler situation?
