We now have a defensive center in Turiaf, a guy that commands a double-team, and a point guard that can hit a shot and is not afraid to drive to the basket. If Gallo has stepped up his game, this team really has a chance to make the playoffs this year. I would sit tight and wait at this point. No need to make any other moves.
I would like to see the group we have put together at this point given a chance to play together for a year.
It is more satisfying watching young players develop before your eyes and learning how to win; more satisfying putting a group of guys together who can play the kind of ball that results in a team which is much better than the sum of its part, than putting together a dream team and winning.
I won't stop watching the Knicks if they trade away some of their young talent for guys like Anthony, Paul, or Parker, but I would feel much better watching the team we have now winning and showing promise of greater things to come, than trading for the stars.
I'm jealous about what OKC might be putting together, and I'm not sure I would want to trade that team's future for the Miami Queen Team, even if the Heat win more titles.
The team that Walsh has put together as of today is probably the most interesting one in terms of its mix of older (but not really old) talent, younger talent, and talented role players, that we have had for years, and if Gallo continues to improve like I think he will, and Randolph sees the light and plays to his potential, we might end up with the best (or close to it) 3/4 forward combination in the NBA, a tandem that other fans on other forums be starting threads about in jealousy.
Don't know what Donnie has under his sleeves, but I hope that he looks at the team he has put together and decides to let them go to war for the year as is.
