This is bad news for us. We could end up at the bottom of our division if D'Antoni doesn't stress defense from DAY 1 of the season.

Boston - Veteran Team
Toronto - Veteran Team
Nets - Defensive minded coach
Sixers - ????

NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

Minus Bosh and Hedu and Calderon, Toronto looks like a 25 win team.

I'm sure D will be a subject they stress, but if you look at the team we have assembled, you have a lot of guys who are going to play good D even if they don't go over it in practice.
Different group of guys on this team, my friend.

I just don't want to see Gallo and AR coming out to the top of the key to guard PGs.

anyone who had faith or believe MJ could/would do a good job there is either a youngin, mental or just plain dumb.

Kwame Brown anybody!! Rip for Stack!!! Courtney (whatever his last name was) for Tyron Liu

That right there says it all.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

MJ has put the trade on ice...

from adrian woj...

Michael Jordan's reluctance to approve a trade of Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw to the Raptors for Jose Calderon and Reggie Evans has stalled a proposed three-way deal, sources told Yahoo!

Jordan, sources said, has been hesitant to trade Chandler.

The players involved were notified of the trade on Monday, but they are now on ice.

The Raptors will send Hedo Turkoglu to the Suns for Leandro Barbosa, regardless of how the separate component plays out.

I like Calderon but he plays no defense and I would not give up Chandler and Diaw for Calderon and Evans. I would at least want a 1st round pick back from Toronto.

Officially the worst GM in basketball and one of the worst basketball minds I have ever seen. Amazing you could be the greatest player ever and not know talent or how to put a team together.

you could say pretty much the same thing for the way isiah built teams.

to be fair to jordan here, he seems to realize that he's giving up way too much in this trade.

at least Isiah was able to draft some good players at low spots. Frye over Bynum was terrible but Chandler, Lee, Nate and Ariza where all great value where he got them. When he coached Indy he also did a solid job developing that core of young players. Not sticking up for Isiah by any means but at least he showed something. MJ... man, one blunder after another

#Raptors update: #Bobcats' portion of three-team trade is dead, Toronto Star reports. Hedo-for-Barbosa still a go. #NBA http://bit.ly/aHbpXh

UPDATED 12:13 p.m. ET: The Toronto Star reported Tuesday afternoon that the Bobcats portion of the deal is dead , nixed by Jordan's concerns.

In the make-believe world of NBA trades, this one actually makes sense. The Raptors get rid of Turkoglu, who was never happy with his role in Toronto, and get a playmaker in Barbosa with only a one-year commitment. They use a portion of the $14.5 million trade exception received in the Chris Bosh sign-and-trade to make the deal pass muster under the 125 percent rule required to validate trades between teams that are over the salary cap. Turkoglu is on the books for $9.8 millon next season.

The Suns, trying to move on after losing Amar'e Stoudemire to the Knicks, made another solid move in acquiring restricted free agent Josh Childress from Atlanta for a second-round pick. By doing so, Phoenix bypasses the offer sheet and seven-day matching procedure for restricted free agents, which eliminates what would've been merely a formality since the Hawks were not going to match an offer sheet for Childress after signing Joe Johnson to a max deal. With Turkoglu's play-making ability and Childress' athleticism, it's hard not to like the Suns' post-Amar'e look. Childress, who gets a five-year, $34 million deal, will give coach Alvin Gentry more flexibility in his rotations. Turkoglu will take some of the pressure off an aging Steve Nash to be the playmaker and ballhandler on every possession.

Charlotte end of Raptors deal dead

The part of a complex Raptors deal that would have sent Jose Calderon and Reggie Evans to Charlotte is dead, killed by Bobcats owner Michael Jordan according to league sources.
The teams had signed off on the transaction that would have shipped Boris Diaw and Tyson Chandler to Toronto early Monday afternoon – with Chandler being told he was to become a Raptor – before it died later in the day

The other part of the transaction – Hedo Turkoglu from Toronto to Phoenix for Leandro Barbosa – is still a go and could be finished as early as today.

The nixing of the Charlotte part of the multi-team transaction is a sorry saga. The highly-respected Marc Spears of yahoo.com first reported Monday afternoon that Chandler told him he’d been traded. Evans has also publicly said his goodbyes to Raptors fans through his twitter account before yahoo.com reported overnight that trade was in peril.

What it means in the long run remains to be seen; Toronto officials are in Las Vegas and offered no comment.

if your Felton its a no brainer. Even the shorter contract. He's 26. He joins an MDA team that just added a bunch of athletic bigs, has a couple shooters and just added a 5 time all star who is 27 up front. This system had Duhon putting up 12/8 a night.

Felton is probably thinking a) it will be a fun team to play for and b) Felton will average 20/10 for a team that with a playoff roster. His contract will be up when he's 29, at that point he's thinking max contract or close to it. It looks like a good basketball fit for Felton and a good financial fit also.
