I think right now IT should just leave the roster as it is now. When this team plays well it can compete with almost any team out there. Then if you get an offer that you can't refuse you make the trade. The Knicks could use a low-post threat, but realistically, who is out there that we have a good shot at?
Exactly, who is there that would make a big difference that we have a good shot at?
Sheed is the only guy like that, but he plays like KVH now, real soft, on the perimeter and is a headcase. Plus, he could leave nyk after this season... as a free agent.
There are only 3 ways to get a Post big man in this league.
1) Trade for a nutcase (see sheed, although his post days are gone)
2) Trade for a young guy that hasnt broken out yet: Pull a Jermaine O'neal (i looked through all the NBA rosters and every player to compile this list... some guys have had different degrees of success, but none are All-Stars or have reached their ceiling... some could reach all-star level or just become very solid ballers)
Steven Hunter - Magic,
Kwame Brown- Wiz,
Melvin Ely- Clips,
Darius Miles -Cavs,
Kendrick Perkins-Celts,
Marcus Fizer-Bulls
DeSagana Diop-Cavs,
Al Harrington-Pacers,
Etan Thomas-Wash,
Brendan Haywood-Wash,
Chris Andersen-Denver,
Jamal Sampson-Lakers,
Ndudi Ebi-TWolves,
Ruben Boumtje Boumtje - Blazers,
Jerome James - Seattle (could be somebody... has the tools)
**Travis Outlaw & Qyntel Woods, Blazers: Not post players, but two T-macs waiting to happen - Trade Frank Williams and Harrington for these two, and that's the steal of the century.**
3) Draft a young guy that will be a stud: Amare Stoudy-type guy/Elton Brand
Keon Clark is gonna be a free agent this year... a Marcus Camby type. Maybe sign him for a portion of the mid-level exception?
