It is time to give this man some props.
+ Working in New York and navigating a media trying to create controversy and drama to sell papers.
+ Having the guts to gut a team in New York to build it properly from the ground up.
+ Dealing with Dolan and his maniacal policies while making nice to all so the Garden could be appealing to to NBA talent.
+ The man works crazy hours even when bed ridden, tongue cancer or with a bum neck.
+ Backing his coach on benching mentally erratic Starbury and HDAD chaotic Nate, without feeding controversy.
+ He showed guts to draft based on scouting and not popularity.
+ He has negotiated cap responsible deals with versatile options with a potential sleeper in Felton.
+ He did not relay any amateur bitterness in the face of the Lebron, Bosh, Wade fix; showing a classy New York that did not offend CP3's new agency.
+ He got an incredibly useful and cap friendly package for Lee than anyone anticipated (addressing a scoring guard, rugged D & a young kid superstar potential compliment Galo & Amare's game.
+ Has a versatile roster that has the flexibility to make moves for stars that force a trade (Carmelo, Deron Williams or CP3).
+ Has not made any amateur panic moves in the face of the NY pressure cooker.
+ Is remodeling an MDA team with guys who block shots or play with gusto on D (Gallo wishes to play the best apposing player, Chandler can bruise other SG & SF, Randolph is a shot blocker, Amare is a shot blocker, Felton play warrior like D, and collected a bool of young bigs that can bang or block shots, Azubuike plays fierce D, Turiaf is a rugged bruiser. Therefore, this team will play D, knock people down the next time Koby Wade or Lebron have another 50 points at the garden contest or expect a new assistant D couch.
Bravo to the DON!!! You have assembled a team that is easy to root for while maintaining the flexability to keep hope of crafting a dynasty in the future.
Feel free to challenge any of the above mentioned points... but I think Donnie Walsh deserves a lot of gratitude from Knicks fans that have been suffering ever since the Ewing trade.
