I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but I still have nightmares about Allan Houston's knee imploding after his stint. I'd rather see Amar'e rest his body. If there's a positive side, maybe he can hit it off with Paul and recruit him to the Knicks.

I think you have to send him to recruit. That is what the NBA has come down to friends playing with friends.

on a stacked team, we wont play too many minutes. he will be fine. allan had a couple of good years after his 2000 stint so that is irrelevant.

Allan didn't seem to be the same atheletically. He had anoticeable decrease in the lift on his jumpshot and in his explosiveness getting to the hoop after 2000. Maybe age played a part in it? It's not something to dismiss.

maybe that and the fact that he and sprewell had to log 40 + minutes a night.

Allan lost some of his athleticism due to his nagging injuries which kept building up until he hit microfracture, most likely. However, he continued to get better as a player.

If the Miami 3 are playing with him he might be able to "accidentally" sideswipe one of their knees.

I don't want to see anything dirty like that, not even on those 3 guys. What I do want to see are some HARD fouls once the season is underway.

I'm not too worried about Amare with Team USA. I can understand how a team might worry, but I'd never tell a player not to represent his country if given the honor.

No fcking way should he play--Dolan you are a horses arse. Let the young kids play--notice all of the big time older players are passing. we have terrible luck and terrible ownership--take charge and lay the gauntlet down here. why take a chance?

I kinda agree with you he shouldn't go. Besides the next team isn't winning gold anyways. I know it sounds unpatriotic but lets face the facts last team sent was stacked to the hilt. Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Melo CP3 and Williams. What team are they going to send next. I guarantee it won't be as stacked as the 3 amigos will definitely not go. Kobe is getting up there and he will definitely pass.

I have no problem with him playing. There's always risks, but it increases his name value being there, and that does transfer to the Knicks team.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think the USA should take some pride in the game. We should be proud of winning the gold now. Personally I think its good to have a Knick in the game. Brings some positive attention to the franchise. And as mentioned earlier its a good networking opportunity.
