I'd keep Turriaf for a while, just because he's a vet, is experienced and is meant to be a great team mate- we need him to help provide them with guidance, as that's a pretty inexperienced frontline that needs a lot of time and development spent on it. Getting prospects is great but you need to balance it out with older players that can lead by example, bestow work ethic etc or that talent won't get realised- I think if Camby hadn't come here when he did and didn't get taught by the players we had, he'd never of become the player he did- he'd still be the skinny, soft underachiever he was in Toronto (remember when he first came here he sat out ssome games due to an ingrown toe nail which he insisted "really hurt!" ha)

ok, but realize Jordan, Mozgov and Fat Ass won't contribute this year

I'd keep Turiaf too... I expect a lot from Randolph but maybe he plays half the games this year and doesn't improve as much as I think he will

I'm just happy the Clarence Weatherspoon/Malik Rose days appear over

No Layups

purple012 - and you know this how?

Can you be cetain that a group of players that you have never watched as individuals, or as a unit, will not develop a hint of symmetry as they get acquainted?

Jordan and Mosgov work together on moves at one end of the court for hours after practice

The elder Stoudemire becomes mentor to Randolph

Douglas versus Felton will be a matchup that will keep both sharp and exciting to watch

Gallo working against Turiaf will make Gallo better

Gallo working against Stoudemire will add nuance to both skill sets as neither really wants to play center

Walker and Landry Fields will push The Mayor to stay sharp

Azubuike can work at his own pace and rebound for Rautins and Felton while his knee heals

once a knick always a knick

I love the height - but D'Antoni doesn't preach defense so it will be interesting to see how he uses these guys.

If isn't preaching it, they have to at least have an assistant doing it, right? What the hell does Dan or Herb do?

That is a great question. Herb is a man of mystery. He has made a career out of staying out of the way and sticking around thru all of the different coaching regimes. I have heard it said that Herb is in charge of the defense but up to this point it I think it is a title in name only. Dan is in charge of halftime interviews and discussing how the team is going to react and come back after seeing what the opponent does in the first half because no game tape was watched prior to playing the opponent.

When did Randolph become 7' tall. He measured 6'9 in bare feet. 6'10.25 in shoes. Unless he had another growth spurt I don't believe he is 7' tall.

I don't buy into the MDA/no defense stuff.

For the most part, we have a lineup with a lot of guys who don't need to be told to play defense, which is how it should be.

If Felton is a good perimeter defender, it means we don't have to use Gallo or Randolph in the way Jeffries was first used last year when it became evident that Duhon could not keep a crawling infant in front of him.

I'm interested to see how Walker plays D this year- he's one of the wildcard unknowns on the roster, IMO.

Felton, Douglas, Chandler, Gallo, AR, Turiaf, Azu, and if you believe the reports- the Russian- can all play D. Amare is much more of a defensive presence than Lee. Rautins and Fields were both good team defenders in college, although who knows how that translates up here. Jordan won some defensive awards in college.

We have burners, bangers, and perhaps more length than the Knicks have ever had.

We have more guys who are capable of playing good D this year, but more importantly, we have guys who want to play it.

I looked him up in a Fantasy B-ball magazine I have from last fall. They said that he had grown an inch over the summer and was 6-11. I am not sure if he has added an inch but I know he is at least 6'11".

Just let Briggsy go. Height and athleticism for Briggs is like mud for a pig. Perhaps he is too happy to do a proper measuring.

Actually, though, I think Randolph may have grown a little bit since his pre-draft measurements- thought I read something about that last year. (Gallo was supposed to stretch a bit also.)

In any event, he plays like a 7 footer in some aspects of his game.

If he is 7' tall your looking at the second coming of David Robinson. I remember an article that claimed he had grown two inches. He was hovering around 7'1. I really don't know what to believe. Every year they should have height and measurement in the NBA that should be reflected on each teams web site.

I think they do that. The measurements in nba.com are supposed to be accurate.

They keep the same measurement from the time they come into the league.

as long as Amare doesn't play like he's 29, we should be in good shape.
