Since it looks like we made our last major free agent move, how would you rank our attempt to rebuild so far, and compared to other teams?
Initially i am disappointed because we did come away with 2 all-star, notably lebron. But as i think about it more, the fear of us striking out definitely didn't happen. We added the best player we've had since Ewing and the best PG on the free agent market. And looking at all the other teams that relied on this free agency, who did better besides Miami? Chicago can be viewed as a major disappointment having only boozer and a couple role playing shooters and boozer is definitely no Stoudemire when it comes to impact. Also, New Jersey has had a disaster free agency. They can't even get people that we would have hated to get.
On top of all of this, we actually got something of value for Lee that doesn't break the bank. A possible future all-star that fits alongside Stoudemire and some solid role players. I wish we could have picked up parker instead of felton but i guess it makes sense because walsh didn't want to miss out in case he couldn't land an all-star point before the end of summer.
With the idea that we did relatively well and we now have a solid playoff team with flexibility for another max FA i can say i am pretty happy and encouraged with what we are building, even if it isn't the dream team we were hoping for. Here is our lineup right now.
C Stoudemire, Turiaf, Curry, Jordan
PF Randolph
SF Gallo, Azubieka, Fields
SG Chandler, Walker, Rautins
PG Felton, Douglas
Wouldn't Carmelo look good plugged into this line-up next season?
