Assuming we sign all our 2nd rounders, we'll have 13 players on the team and nobody over 28. I'm not complaining about that but I think we can use a couple of veteran role players for our bench. Guys who wont primarily be in the rotation but be classy, smart, helpful veterans for this team and give a good example to our young guys. No flashy name, just a respected vet.

Can you think of veterans we can sign for the minimum that fit that criteria?

Right now I have Kevin Ollie and Kurt Thomas off the top of my head. What about - gulp - Brian Scalabrine?

Give me some names because I can't think of any at the moment.

Well....Amare is 28yrs old but been in the league for 7yrs. He has matured since his time in Phoenix.

Amare is a vet. Turiaf is a rugged no-nonsense player. Gallo and Douglas show high leadership qualities.

I see what you're saying Greek but I don't know who we would bring in....and I think we're okay if we don't bring anyone in.

Those guys you would think of are going to coattail ride the big teams this season. Watch the handful of washed ups that join the Heat. You know it's coming. JWill, QBitch, etc. Not that I'd want either of those two clowns in a leadership role but those are the types that are out there to be added.

I think we're best rolling with what we got. I like our kids. The only dope we might have that needs guidance is Anthony Randolph.

If guys like Joe Smith and Michael Finley want to sign the minimum, practice, wear suits, and show the kids the ropes, then okay. But I'm more or less okay, and somewhat excited, with the youth movement

You have Felton who just had his first taste of playoffs last year. You have Amare who was a top player on a team that won many playoff games. You have Turiaf who was a very good role player on those Lakers teams. While I agree we could use a couple of other vets perhaps, that's still a good start.

to me the guy who makes this complete is Rip Hamilton. Great pro. Play D, scores with ease, won a title, PERFECT fit for this style of play and makes enough money to match Curry's salary and Det might think about moving away from that big contract. I would give up a good deal to see this lineup:
PG FElton
SG Rip
SF Gallo
PF Randoph
C Amare

Thats bigtime

My fear about this is that the coach would play these guys ahead of the younger players. I am just going by past practice but I found this approach very frustrating last year.

+1. And let's face it, Rip is a one dimensional player that does nothing well except fight through screens to get an open look. I wouldn't use Curry's contract in this deal by itself, let alone throwing in Chandler.

He's well over his prime as well.

It didn't seem like D'Antoni and McGrady saw eye to eye here. I don't see him coming back.

I agree with you there... like I said, I'm only interested in getting guys like that if they'll practice and basically be coaches at the end of the bench

Kevin Ollie just signed a 5 year deal @ Uconn to become an assistant coach. He lives in Glastonbury

Agree also. Maybe we only need 1 more veteran, someone like Kurt Thomas who can help the younger players and he himself is old, and realizes he won't get a lot of minutes.

Also, we don't have many open places on the 15 man roster. We now have 12 players if you count our 3 rookies making the team (Fields, Rautin, JJordan). We may want 1 player from SL? 1 more vet. and leave the 15th place open for flexibility in case a player or deal arises.

Etan Thomas--I would be interested in if Curry cannot give us the *big banger* role. While we do have Turiaf--it was noticeable that Thomas was banging hard and was successful against Gasol and Bynum in that series. I know amare and turiaf are tough but Thomas is 265 pounds of muscle--an enforcer type which I like:) if we have 4-6mm to spenmd--we could offer him 3-4mm for 1 year with a team option IF none of the SL guys show enough. I think its possible we see one of either Lyons or Garcia make a play for a roster spot
