Someone on realgm mentioned flipping him in a deal for Toney Parker. Its just speculation but I think it would be a huge mistake. I was worried last night that somehow Randolph would be taken out of the deal or another team would get involved. I really want the Knicks to keep Randolph. I know that there aren't even rumors about something like this but it is typical of some of the moves this franchise has made.

I'd only flip him for Paul or Melo.

yeah, actually when they got him my first thought is that they would flip him to san antonio for tony parker.

i would hate that.

but we do desperately need that lead guard.

i love our front court right now - gallo/amare/AR... but we do desperately need that lead guard.

Immediately, or later in the season?

Let's see how he works in here.

And who knows, what if Douglas shows us he is starting PG quality.

Too early to talk about trading Randolph at this point. I would really like to see a year of him playing for us first.

there is no way. Its been no secret that Walsh covets AR. He came up a few times in recent rumors. I do think AR/Gallo while not redundant do play the same position and one could be a part of a package for a star, but thats higly unlikely. There is nothing not to like about Gallo's work ethic, conduct and his development as a player. Equally there is nothing not to like about AR's potential on both ends of the ball.

The guy who becomes expendable is Chandler. I like him, he's a nice 2/3/4 combo forward/wing. Good player, very versatile but not great at anything. Gallo and AR have potential to be really great at a few things, and they are bigger.

No way no how one of them gets traded. Not now at least. No need

I agree about Chandler. Azubuike is pretty good and might make it easier for the Knicks to move Chandler. He is another guy I wouldn't want to see go but it makes a lot more sense than trading Randolph.

If you could land Melo and Keep Gallo, why wouldn't you?

Its nice, though, that we finally have assets to be able to play with.

Chandler is pretty much a lame duck here if the Parker/Melo concept has any merit. We will not have the cap space to re-sign him next year if you expect Parker to merit at least $13M and Melo $17M per year.

I would go to war against any team in the league with Parker/Melo/Gallo/Randolph/Stoudemire.

I think the offer to the Spurs for Parker is that we absorb his contract and we give them Chandler. That allows them bring over Thiago Splitter this year.

I love how everyone is ready to jump on the AR bandwagon. I clearly remember having debates with a lot of people in this forum about his ability and what he was doing at the end of the 08-09 season.

i remember watching the highlights of him and steph curry tearing up summer league after randolph's first season and the disastrous 09 draft (for NYK). AR dropped 42pts. i was borderline depressed. i felt AR and Steph Curry should have been knicks and there'd be no way to get them, ever.

the fact that we got AR is testament to donnie's brilliance. people said signing dlee to a 1-yr deal was pointless because we wouldn't get anything for him after he was UFA. donnie got a better package than either the raptors or cavs will get for their superstars.

i'm thrilled with this trade. i would understand if there was pressure to turn AR into Tony Parker... but I hope we keep him right here and we can watch a young front court pair of AR and Gallo develop and lead us to great things.

here's the video of that game - so thrilled AR is a knick:

I don't know too much about Randolph, but it seems like he could be a very nice player to have on the roster.

However, if I could turn him into Tony Parker right now, or Carmelo in February, I think I would have to do it.

Our team needs a top PG to compete. Parker + Stoudamire + Gallo and a filled-out roster makes our team competitive right now. The PG hole is huge and must be filled to maximize the success of Amare and the rest of our team.

Also I'm not feeling Livingston.

Because he doesn't want to play in the NBA, not because he couldn't get a job in the NBA

I wouldn't trade Randolph for Parker or Melo to the extent I was certain I could have them for free next year. Randolph is the type of player that could turn this team into a championship squad (the way a young Rondo was able to grow into such an important part of the Celtics).

Now that the Miami Mice are off the market, Gallo and Randolph are untouchable as far as I am concerned. Chandler, Buike, Turiaf, Douglas, Walker, Rautins, Fields and Jordan could be available in any deal for those two, but I'd like to keep Randolph and Gallo together.

The way I look at it, the benefit of getting those two this year is the ability to use the MLE this year. I think Randolph could be worth a lot more than an MLE player.

Yes, I'd trade him for Tony Parker in a NY minute.

D'antoni will play him and build his stock and then he's probably gone in the Melo deal and I don't have any problem with that. Every war has it's casualties and we are about to go to war with Miami it ain't over it's just started.

Stop trading young players with upside for players you just sign. Just Sign Melo next year!!!!!!
