Was reading the daily news at a bar I just had lunch with.

Dolan apparently told Mike D NOT to travel to Ohio and instead to go to Vegas.
Dolan wanted Isiah called up to go to Ohio. Reasoning was Dolan thinks Walsh/Mike failed already and wanted to see if Isiah could be convincing.
Isiah then flew to Ohio to meet with one of James' advisors.

A couple of league execs said they were flabberghasted when this happened saying "Did Dolan really think that would work?"
A couple said they couldn't believe Isiah, who they thought was fired, was still a part of this organization.

...I smell a rift if this is indeed true.

Just passing on what I _READ_ today in the paper itself. The paper was infected with no less than a dozen LBJ articles.

Donnie and Mike already went to Ohio. Isiah was a last ditch effort out of desperation. Nescessary, not really, but it happened. It's not a knock on MDA or Donnie.

I know this.

I'm talking about the final effort.

Mike D was to go to Ohio for the final effort.

Dolan pulled the plug and had Isiah go instead.

A Knick official said "He(Dolan) wanted Isiah."

Again, can't provide a link, there is none, it's in the paper itself.

I read that too and can believe it. Apparently Zeke was also very influential in getting Amar'e to the Knicks as well. That's why I asked the question what MDA's getting paid to do. If you listen to SAS, James wasn't that impress with MDA or Donnie. Then I see Donnie's quote that it's now just about winning. I took that as a hint that MDA got to produce one way or the other.

ITs absolutely pathetic. How can you send a fired employee to work on the biggest recruitment that you'll ever have? Its a joke. If I was on Lebron's team and had Isiah coming to visit I would laugh him out of the room.

Absolutely pathetic.

Yeah but we were suppose to excuse the losing and the rest of the garbage that went on in the two seasons because he was suppose to be crucial to the recruitment process.

Didn't matter- Lebron never gave us any consideration.

I actually applaud Dolan for trying this. He did what he could. No stone unturned.

Dude, Lebron's camp welcomed it. Listening to Mike on WFAN just now. He said they didn't return Donnie's messages. Isiah actually got a late meeting with them.

At first I thought it was stupid but I didn't realize how much Isiah was involve even with Amar'e.

Isiah still has some charisma that resinates with many.

Isiah can talk about the lure of NY and why it would be great.

MDA did not "Lose" lebron. Dude had an agenda.

I don't think that is the case at all. Just doing favors for friends and former employers.

No doubt. While I agree MDA didn't "lose" Lebron but he didn't do anything to "win" him over either.

I wouldn't mind Isiah coming back if he were forbidden from making trades of any kind. Chances are, he would have netted us Jennings in the draft.

He has had a pass for the past two years and still messed up in how he handled the players/assets. I don't see him lasting the year. Walsh has put together a great roster of young, talented big guys. These guys will need a coach to work with them. D'Antoni hasn't done that so far. If this team comes out of training camp unprepared, undisciplined, and loses like last years squad he needs to be removed quickly. Maybe Walsh is letting him know that he isn't protecting him anymore. If Walsh does end up retiring D'Antoni will be let go shortly after in my opinion.

Isiah has his uses. He's smooth. He's an NBA champion and one of the best players to play in the league. He's one of the toughest dudes to play the game. He's lousy at running a team and managing people. He was very good in Indy with the young guys that Walsh got. Aside from Channing Frye he did a decent job finding talent in the draft as well.

Isiah and Walsh also have a relationship.

So long as Isiah isnt running the team or coaching it I dont care if he's in the woodwork playing some role.

Its all about the team and the direction is great IMO.

Not going to panic because Isiah's name came up in the tabloids.

I think Mike understands this and I expect he will have these guys come out fast out of the gate as much as possible.
